You failed in your entire rebuttal.
"It's because he usually has likable/interesting characters on screen, and people pay to see that."
REALLY??? People pay to see Jonah Hill? I know there must be hundreds, if not hundreds of thousands of people who pay to see his fat, no-talent mug on screen (please note my sarcasm on this point).
"people generally like him, and are willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money to see him."
Oh yes, but of course!!! How could I be so silly? Naturally, people will pay "ridiculous" amounts of money to see someone they like. That makes COMPLETE sense now! Oh, how could I be SO wrong? Thank you so much for clearing that up for me, Mr. Michaelrush84. My eyes are open now!

He showed his true colors on that The Hollywood Reporter interview when he got offended at the interviewer for asking him about fart jokes. He also name-drops like there's no tomorrow. He's always talking about how he's best friends with Leo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie. He makes me sad! He's like the fat, unpopular kid at school who finally gets to hang out with the "cool kids." I know he has apologized but I still don't trust him. He seems like the type of guy who uses people for his own benefit.
In terms of acting- he's not terrible but not amazing either. He seems very average to me. I'm not sure what all111c the hype is about
. He was good in Moneyball, but I wouldn't call that performance "breathtaking" or "mesmerizing." -

What, you never saw Revenge of the Nerds? That's pretty much a reality on today's university campuses. Self-proclaimed "nerds," who actually consider themselves cool hipsters, have their own very large cliques and frat houses. To paraphrase Lester Bangs, these days they have their very own industry of cool while masquerading as nerds, dorks, etc. That's Jonah Hill. He would fit in perfectly to today's frat culture. You're living in the past if you think frats are restricted to jocks and jerks with wealthy parents. -

Dr. Drew wrote a book about people like you called the Mirror Effect. Basically, if you see someone who has success, and you do not think that person deserves success, or if you think you deserve it more, then you try and bring them down to your level.
It's the reason why people like you will buy the National Enquirer and People magazines at the checkout aisle to see which celebrity's marriage is falling apart or which celebrity got fat.
If Jonah Hill was not famous, you would have no opinion of him. Heck, even if you knew him in real life as the grocery store bagger, you would probably think he's just a regular guy. But because he has success and you obviously do not, then you feel it is ok to rip on him because of it. That is very pathetic.
I do5b4 not call celebrities names, not even Justin Bieber, because I know a celebrity in real life and I know that sometimes they come to these boards, against the wishes of their best friends, and see what people are saying about them. For them to have to see this uneducated and completely envious topic, it makes me weep for our republic.
If Justin Bieber kills himself or something like that, I guarantee you all will be talking about, "How did this happen?" and then you will read the tabloids that go as far as showing the floor of the bathroom he was found in or something.
You people love to bring others down simply because you never had the success yourself that he has. -

If you make millions of dollars for doing lets be honest next to nothing then i dont think you can complain at all if the worst thing in your day was some ass hole ripping you on the net. you need a concrete pill and so do your celebrity friends. heard of facebook? EVERYONE has someone talking beep about them on the net.

Dr. Drew is not a psychiatrist, or a psychology. He's an internal medicine doctor who went Hollywood as soon as possible, and makes money not-helping celebrities battle addiction on TV. You might as well be quoting that chick who played Tony Soprano's shrink on TV. That would actually be a better option.
At the same time, I have 0 disl1354ike for Jonah Hill. 90% of the people working in Hollywood are related to someone famous or connected to the industry. The people who come out of nowhere on the strength of talent alone could probably all sit at the same dinner table together that's how rare it is. And yes, he's skated through life and has never had to work in the 9 to 5 sense of the word. This is what mainstream hollywood is. If you don't like people like this, watch independent films made by hard working people who earn scraps for it. The only way to reroute this is with your dollars. -

I think the reason for negativity and hatred towards him right now IS jealousy
Only a moron can't see what the truth is about Jonah Hill's career. The negativity isn't about him, it's about the culture that facilitates such a thing. It will be over soon.

Its unfortunate what he's done to his reputation in terms of likability. He's become more famous within Hollywood but to the public he's just become a jerk. I used to like the guy, so did my brothers and friends, but we were just talking about it the other day after seeing Wolf of Wall Street (which most of us thought sucked) that Jonah Hill has become a jackass.
I've watched a bunch of his interviews including the Howard Stern interviews, and the more recent ones especially he comes off as a jerk. I know he is weird about his weight issues and tries to play them off like it was just a short-term thing and bringing it up is stupid, but the fact is he is still known as the funny "fat guy" despite how much his publicist tries to plaster his thin pictures all over. He keeps losing and gaining weight, which is actually something most people can identify with. But instead he pretends that isn't him, which just pisses people off.
I also hate how much he name drops. He also doesn't seem to acknowledge how well-connected he grew up which let him get into the industry. Now he talks like he's some kind of legendary movie star, when he's always played a sidekick. I have a hard time seeing him in a leading role, he just doesn't have the gravitas.
But overall, I think the biggest reason he's become hated is simply becoming too much of a media whore and too egotistical.
