I think the reason for negativity and hatred towards him right now IS jealousy
Only a moron can't see what the truth is about Jonah Hill's career. The negativity isn't about him, it's about the culture that facilitates such a thing. It will be over soon.

Its unfortunate what he's done to his reputation in terms of likability. He's become more famous within Hollywood but to the public he's just become a jerk. I used to like the guy, so did my brothers and friends, but we were just talking about it the other day after seeing Wolf of Wall Street (which most of us thought sucked) that Jonah Hill has become a jackass.
I've watched a bunch of his interviews including the Howard Stern interviews, and the more recent ones especially he comes off as a jerk. I know he is weird about his weight issues and tries to play them off like it was just a short-term thing and bringing it up is stupid, but the fact is he is still known as the funny "fat guy" despite how much his publicist tries to plaster his thin pictures all over. He keeps losing and gaining weight, which is actually something most people can identify with. But instead he pretends that isn't him, which just pisses people off.
I also hate how much he name drops. He also doesn't seem to acknowledge how well-connected he grew up which let him get into the industry. Now he talks like he's some kind of legendary movie star, when he's always played a sidekick. I have a hard time seeing him in a leading role, he just doesn't have the gravitas.
But overall, I think the biggest reason he's become hated is simply becoming too much of a media whore and too egotistical.

He can act even though I have never found him funny unlike Rogen, who is hilarious. Yet he was funny making funny of himself in This is The End which was a really funny, self mocking film. I have never seen many interviews with him for the most part since the weight loss. The guy is still a dead ringer when he has hair for David Berkowitz and his face makes me cringe. He was great in Wolf on Wall Street and even Moneyball (should not have been nominated for it though). He does come off as snobby and self-involved at times by how he carries himself but hey it's Hollywood.
Nothing is as it seems so I wouldn't judge by what you think you see.

Wow, I don't usually jump on "the hate train", but gotta agree with the OP and so many commenters! As for Dr. Drew's book, seriously?! That hack will do / say anything to make $$$ and see himself on TV. He doesn't care about those celebs, any more than he cared about his own daughter who suffered anorexia / bulimia for years witho5b4ut the expert of all addictive behaviors even knowing it. He was probably too busy "helping" D-listers on VH1 or writing beep books about pop culture and our obsession with it, both(?) of which offer zero insight.
As for Jonah, obviously some people are going to say "you're just jealous that he's not traditionally good-looking, but has a successful career, and you don't". And of course "how can you be so mean to these celebrities with multi-million $$$ net worths, criticizing them on internet boards?!", equating it to bullying. Some of them read this beep (and don't care / "cry" all the way to the bank), and some can't be bothered. The thing about Jonah, to me, is he obviously had an easier entry into Hollywood than most he was born in Beverly Hills to parents connected to the industry, and his brother is a pretty big agent, Jordan Feldstein. And a douche as well! (That's per actual celebrities he has represented, and many peoplenot just "troll hearsay".)
I first saw him in "Superbad", which I thought was awful. I love toilet humor as much as the next guy, IF it's funny. Then "Knocked Up", which overall was pretty funny, but Jonah's part was pretty minor, and he was okay as a stupid stoner. Then a more prominent role in "Jump Street", a chance to show his comedic chops. NOT! I like Channing Tatum, but that movie w5b4as so bad, only an occasional chuckle, and Jonah's acting made it worse. (Someone like Melissa McCarthy can make mediocre/bad material laughable, Jonah not-so-much.) But OF COURSE, there's a "Jump Street" sequel?! Then that bad Judd Apatow movie about the end of the world, with all of Apatow's favorites Jonah played Jonah. I loved Wolf of Wall Street, but not because of Jonah and an Oscar nom?! Leo, yes. Jonah, no. Must be nice being so well-connected and wonder why he dropped his more Jewish-sounding name, "Jonah Feldstein"?? Guess he figured it wasn't necessary to get favor within Hollywood, and that "Hill" might make him more popular in Des Moines. (That, I'll confess, is pure speculation but makes you wonder.) As for his SNL appearances, the first one was decent, the second mostly bad. But I don't judge too harshly, the best guest could get dealt the worst writing / skits, and what are they gonna do? But he was pretty one-note, reading from the cue cards, not adding much.
The problem with Jonah, and Rogen, and the over-saturation of Apatow, isn't that people are "jealous" of them. If I could pull in their millions and get all that work, playing very slight variations on the exact same character, I'd do the exact same thing! Problem is, there are so many more talented people out there who could do a BETTER job acting, in Jonah's case; writing / directing, i1c84n Apatow's case. But they don't have a shot because they aren't as well-connected, and once guys like that get in, the risk-/creativity-averse studios so, "Well I got this great new comedy script and heard about a great new comedy actor BUT, that's too risky, let's make another Apatow movie with Jonah Hill playing Jonah Hill those always seem to make a good profit." Too bad. Maybe at some point the mostly beep crap coming out of Hollywood will stop appealing to the masses, and things will change.
I actually didn't know he had a reputation for being a douche I've never bothered listen to him get interviewed. His "thing" on the Oscars (both times) seemed to be, "Oh, I'm so humbled by this here I am with Brad, Marty, Leo, etc, etc"
And of course, (both times) didn't he win some "what a nice guy" points for bringing his mom?? No dates, huh?? 🙂 Pretty sure you can bring Mom and a date, others have done it.

              Very well said
I've never found him funny at all, and he's adequate in dramas, but not Oscar-worthy. I was majorly turned off when I read an interview where he was big-noting himself because of his connections. Classic example of someone getting by on nepotism rather than talent.

                Im with you, sort of.
I dont know what he is like in person, not acting but every film i have seen of him he makes the movie almost unwatchable. Like The wolf of wall street.
I just want to punch the guy in the throat.
Every movie he is in he is that sort of dick.

I don't know anything about him personally. But he was such a douche to Julie Andrews (who has beautiful manners and handled it with real grace), I actually turned off
                      The Graham Norton Show
                      earlier tonight. I love
                      The Graham Norton Show
                      , and he ruined it.
                      Screw this guy.

I never thought much about him in the past. Surprised that he was nominated for awards considering all the really good actors around, but from current events, I will NOT spend money to see Jonah Hill in anything. He no longer exists.

Just convert to Judaism and pretend to be a jew. That's how you'll make it in Hollywood. It worked for me. Spinnin' the dreidel, reading the torah in reality I don't care about religion but it helps getting the foot in the door. You could be sucking off dicks to get in the door.
