Yes I would love my children regardless of what color they are. What I am trying to say is what is wrong with being proud of your race? When you treat everybody with dignity and respect. I friend of mine wanted to adopt a child so she placed an ad in the paper. The ad stated that she only wanted to adopt a white child because she is white. What is wrong with that? People should be allowed to have their personal preferences.

"As race doesn't exist it is morally and ethically wrong to demand the presence or requirement of a certain skin colour in any situation."
So I take it you are ethically opposed to such practices as black-focused affirmative action, black-only schools and scholarships, African-American Achievement Awards shows, "Black Pride" events, etc.? All bad?

Are you really going to compare TV shows (I was the only one carrying a protest sign during taping of Cosby and The Jeffersons) with state-sponsored racist policies? You really have only 2 choices: You can reiterate NOW that ALL race-based exclusionist policies are immoral, or you can laugh and say OUR "kick-at-the-can now". Do you really want to hurt white people who very well may have no (or likely, very little) racist attitudes to people of African descent? You want innocent whites today to pay for the evils of slavers in eras we ALL want to forget but are NOT ALL guilty?

"People whom consider themselves 'white' have overwhelmingly more power in society as a result of their majority and will, because of the nature of the 'race' classification system, inevitably use the system to benefit themselves to the detriment of others. Thus as this system persists I have no problem with affirmative action."
People in the majority will always have more power than the minority. This is called DEMOCRACY.
You say keep affirmative action until "race" is abolished. Good luck with that, as affirmative action relies on "race" to maintain itself and the division, anger, and self-loathing such an unequal hand-out system propogates.
I don't benefit at all from American slavery. My family came to this country from Austria 50 years ago. If anything I am a VICTIM of racism. And whose family tree is free from enslavement anyway? How far back in the history books must we all delve to find some nationality or skin color to blame? Are present-day Israelis to hate Egyptions for Exodus?

"I really haven't got a clue how you think just getting rid of affirmative action and letting society go on would make things better??? It really perplexes me; do you live in a bubble or something? We would quite quickly deteriorate back into a pre-civil rights situation."
I'm pretty sure the USA is similar to Canada in this respect, but there are already constitutional guarantees in place to prohibit discrimination by race or gender or creed, and labour tribunals in place to handle complaints by employees, workplace regulations, minimum wage standards, worker's compensation, unemployment insurance, we don't need affirmative action anymore! Here in BC there is a legislation on the table to RESERVE some parliamentary seats for women and minorities. People can vote for whomever they want, and the majority of voters are female!
"The Egyptians in EGYPTIAN SOCIETY are currently NOT LIVING OFF THE HARD WORK the Israelites contributed 1000s of years ago. Their civilisation was wrecked and they pretty much started again. No Egyptian is living off the benefits of Israeli labour"
I have no problem with reparations or treaty settlement. If you are a rich son of a Georgia plantation owner, you should give back what you've inherited unfairly. But to lambaste every "white" person just off the boat from wherever is unfair, and to punish the sons and daughters of "yankees" who died fighting to free slaves is also unfair. Here in Vancouver, the city just settled a treaty with the Musqueam band, turning over a golf course and university endowment lands that could potentially be worth billions (the average home in Vancouver c238osts over 1/2 million) I have no problem with that, pay back what you have taken, but DON'T treat people differently under the law because of ethnicity.

I have been told more than once that as a "white" person I benefit from slavery. Slavery was unforgiveable, atrocious and contemptable, but I don't understand how I benefit from it. All of my parents, both biological and adoptive grew up in economically disadvanted situations living in dilapitaded small homes, oftentimes adjacent to railroad tracts in small towns in Oklahoma and Arkansas. They had no money for college, couldn't afford to own a car and literally pulled themselves up from these situations without "parental" assistance, nor any assistance. They never became fabulously wealthy, just average working class persons. So, how exactly, have I benefitted from a hideous act carried out by evil persons more than 100 years before I was born?

White people have ALWAYS had their own affirmative action because they're in the majorityever heard of legacy preferences, which is the only reason George Bush got into Yale? That's when you're able to slip into a college ahead of other people because your grandpa is an alumni and a big donator to the school. THAT'S been around as long as there have been colleges damn near. Affirmative action was brought into being by the civil rights movement because at the time it was created (1964) a black people would NOT be hired at most corporations or many other places simply because they WERE black, period. Affirmative action was/is a way to make damn sure a certain number of QUALIFIED minorities are able to get their foot in the damn door, because without it, white folks would just go right on hiring ONLY each other like they always have, without even thinking of hiring a single person of color, or anyone that dosen't look like them.
Don't give me that "equal opportunity" bull****white people have always been in a position to make damn sure that they and ONLY they get all the damn opportunities whether they're qualified for them or not. Stop pretending that a lot of white people haven't gotten where they are not because of what they can do, but because of who they know, period. Jobs aren't always handed out on merit and you know it. Affirmative action also helped a hell of a lot of white women and women of color get their foot in to fields where men would have gone on hiring each other like they still do. You better read up and study on affirmative action and what it really does.
Also, while you're at it, read the book COLOR AND MONEY:HOW RICH WHITE KIDS ARE WINNING THE WAR OVER COLLEGE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION, which breaks down exactly how rich white kids' own type of affirmative action works for them. -

Some of you people here are missing the point. Dog made no mention of his son having children with Monique. He used the word because he thinks less of Black people than other people. How stupid can some people reb68ally be? If you want your kids to look like you, that's lovely. None of his sons are with White women. That was okay until Tucker fell for a Black woman.

doesnt matter what you think - he used a racist term in an offensive and derogatory manner. It's not ok. I like Dog, and think he deserves a second chance (he gave others plenty of second chances) but what he did was b68not defendable. He needs to apologise (and mean it) and do some serious work to make up for it. He does not need his TV show taken away. Reactionary bull from A&E.

It was Cat the Bounty-Hunter's SON who was/is? with a Black woman. Not Cat himself. Cat's son's childrfen would not be Cat's children!
