his name is stevens (or stephens). i have the live at sob in new york and at the beginning it goes,
"and now for a man who doesn't need an introduction, John Stevens".
the cd is pretty old and only has like two songs from "Get Lifted", and that is Alright and Get Lifted, which was surprisingly produced by Kanye West. the cd was recorded in 2002, so he probably hadnt come up with the gimmick "Legend" yet. -

You are correct, his last name is Stephens, and the Live at SOB's album is off the chain.
After he did Live at SOB's he did a solo session @ the Knitting Factory. This album was just him and the piano, with a few special guests (most notably Kanye West - All Falls Down)and it is awesome. It is in THIS album that poet, J Ivy -

The man walked out on the BET awards. For that he will never be a legend in my book. That was a suckish move, and I hope he never gets invited back. Hopefully he wins no Grammy either for his work on Django.
