The thing I like is that she went to university - didn't go to the Ivies or NYU which is all too common among aspiring entertainers or established actors seeking a university - and did not major in the arts & humanities (acting, film, art history, English etc.). She majored in economics in Georgetown and apparently was working at GoldmanSachs before she did movie making.

Georgetown is as good as any of the Ivies, etc. The opportunities and connections are on the same level.
Although Georgetown is best known for producing great politicians, it is an elite university.

LOL never implied it was inferior or it was their equal.
The opportunities and connections are on the same level.
Depends on the department.

I dunno. She's already about 30 years old. If a young woman in Hollywood hasn't made it "Big" by then then it's unlikely they're going to become 7ecbig after that age. Chelsea Handler is about the only example I can think of who made it big after age 30 and she's a comedian.

Is it just me or is Brit extremely pretty? She hasn't really been handed those bombshell roles, but there have been a couple of movies where she literally knocks your socks off. Or maybe she just isn't into those type of roles. I've seen her in a few interviews.she seems like she's really a nerd at heart. In a good way.

She may be thirty, but her appeal is as a brilliant filmmaker as well as a strong actress. She is not so much going to be in eye candy rolesby her own choice. I don't see her age as any barrier to her success. Her films will always be outside the "mainstream", but her future is limitless.

In terms of actresses, Naomi Watts, Julianne Moore, Jessica Chastain, Kathy Bates, Melissa McCarthy, and Betty White and some of the few example but the net widens when we're talking reality stars/personalities (which Chelsea Chandler is).
Marling could also end up with a lesser known but still successful career like Anne Archer, Famke Janssen, Monica Bellucci.
My guess w5b4ill be that she will go the Naomi Watts route - critical acclaim and then fame- it's just a question of when. -
