i caught his "clip" from the tonight show on his website. Jo Koy is Filipino and White. But he doesn't refer to his white half on the clip. Just that he's "asian" which gives him all-access to make Chinese jokes. With the stereotypical accent. Just goes to show you, making stereotypical jokes is the shortcut to success.

His mother is Phillipino(sp?) and his last name is Koy, which does not sound white.
Since we get our surnames from our fathers, where does his supposed white-ness come from? The magical land of your opinion?
Also yes, the magic success to comedy is to make fun of steroetypes:
Jeff Foxworthy
Eddie Murphy (when he was funny)
Richard Pryor
Carlos Mencia (Part of his routine)
To name a few
People keep laughing, and the formula still works.
Or are you saying he's not funny, or that people don't pay to hear his humour (which would indicate he's "funny")
Or that you are funnier, and therefore know better? -

I love how the OP only seems to have a problem with this type of comedy because it's coming from a guy that isn't Chinese and is actually half white. Like it would be okay if Jo was Chinese but since he's not, it's OFFENSIVE~!
Idiots are fun. No wonder every village wants one. -

"Just goes to show you, making stereotypical jokes is the shortcut to success. "
hmmm, not really. If that were the case, that tiny Korean chic from last comic standing would be a superstar right now.
"i caught his "clip" from the tonight show on his website. Jo Koy is Filipino and White. But he doesn't refer to his white half on the clip. "
Maybe he's not claiming his white side for reasons unassociated with comedy. Maybe 5b4he just doesn't see himself as white and doesn't want to be considered white. If he did claim both sides, that doesn't bar from making race based jokes about either. Not only could he crack on Asians and Whites, but he could crack on Hapas and how they're viewed by larger society. -

You are racist then. Who are you to dictate what we should look like? I have many relatives who look like him. Mind your own business. He is Filipino.

I think he relates more to his Filipino side & I agree, I don't think he sees himself as white. his sister looks very Asian & he does look Filipino, a lot of Filipinos look like him. Besides, his name Jo Koy is a very very popular Filipino type of name, it's his nickname, & the fact that he uses that shows that that's how he sees himself as Jokoy, not his white side. He also speaks & understands Tagalog & has many Asian & Filipino friends that he hangs out with. He always wears Filipino jackets, 7ecbig fan of Pacquiao, eats Filipino food & has a very Filipino character. He also came here to the Philippines. he is a Filipino, make no mistake about it.

After talking to Jo Koy a few things become undeniably apparent such as the powerful respect and admiration that he possess for his mother who raised him alone
That's one thing I pride myself on, that I'm Asian. All I really know is my Asian heritage.
-I don't think he cares much for his father. He's like A.p.l. from the Black Eyed Peas, he is half Black but he recognizes himself as Filipino because his mother raised him & he never met his father nor does he care to.
