I wonder why the name change

Has he ever commented on why he uses a different last name? Was there already a Matt Miller?
It's not like Miller is complicated and he needed something easier to help him get jobs. And Mercer doesn't seem to mean anything, like with Vin Diesel you can see why he chose the name - he's a buff guy who's trying to be an action star in movies.
But I can't figure out why you'd go from Miller to Mercer.

If I remember correctly it's a SAG (screen actor's guild) thing where members can't have the same name. There already was a Matthew Miller, so he decided to go by Matthew Mercer instead.

Personally I think Mercer has a slightly more badass kind of sound (it brings "mercy" to mind) without standing out. But most likely there was already a Matt Miller and a Matthew Miller in the union.
