Hard to gauge. I don't buy the story that he had to struggle on his own; I think he had help. To people like the Hammer's being "cut off" is often being cut off from the luxuries or excess that they are accustomed too; doesn't mean he didn't have a dollar to his name.
That being said, Armie is a 6'5 adonis with classically "perfect" looks so, unlike other actors, it can't be presumed that this didn't affect his rise. Balthazar Getty comes from a wealthy family and still looks handsome but, when was the last time you saw him in anything major? -

Sean Penn, Robert Downey Jr., Keifer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez, and so many others sure they didn't have ARM AND HAMMER money, but they had a way in, easier than most, because of director and/or acting fathers I think though to strike a chord with the public after getting in, however you get in, is what matters Some last, others peter out

I think it's more that he's tall and cute that got him success in show business. It confounds the heck out of me how life, and society, is so unfair to some people. Not only does he have advantages because of his height and looks, but he comes from the (lucky) wealthy family.
I'm not even allowed to sing karaoke in neighborhood bars because I'm an ugly little twerp.
My name is Tim, and I'm not wearing any pants!
