It's interesting that so many people imagined her as Black. I guess i'm stereotypical in that i imagined her as blonde because she comes off as being a ditzy type to me and i associate those types with blondes lol.
That being said, i think Jessie will make a great Lavender. -

Wow, that was incredibly offensive Paris. You know hair color has NOTHING to do with personality. It's just a physical appearance. ANYONE can be ditzy or smart, no matter the hair color, or skin color for that matter.

im sorry, but not everyone can be happy with an actresses appearance. No one in the world pictured lavender the same when they visualized her while reading, so not eveyone can be pleased with the appearance of her on screen. Even if the casting director found someone 17, and had the exact same features of the lavender that i visualized, i would not want them to cast her if she could not act.

i imagined lavender to just be brunette..and maybe a little bit tanned white girl..
but oh well. this girl here will become lavender. book-based movies cant be like the book to the tee.
cause thatd be a perfect world, wouldnt it? -

I always pictured her as a black girl, I can't exactly say if I was given this impression specifically from what was written in the books, but I get Entertainment Weekly and they pictured her as a black girl in their Goodbye Harry issue w/ a Hogwarts year book, so that kind of solidified it for me. I'm a little confused, but I can't help but enjoy anthing Harry

Lavender is never described in the book. So you can't really say she doesn't look like Lavender should because it is down to personal imagination. And I don't think she is black because there is a part in the book where it says that Ron and Lavender's arms were wrapped up in a way you couldn't tell who's were whose or something like that. If she was black it would be quite easy to tell don't you think.

That term was used to show how CLOSE TOGETHER THEY WERE and if they were wearing long sleeved shirts you might not be able to tell whose arms were whose. Besides THEY DO SAY LAVENDERS BLACK in the first book, they mention it briefly they say it when she walks by with Parvati, it's not like an in depth discription but they say she's black, when i find the exact page i'll post it.

You should definitely change the title of the thread, because what you really meant was that she doesn't look like how YOU pictured Lavender. In reality, the books never actually give a physical description of Lavender so no one's right or wrong. Jessie might look exactly how Lavender should or she could be completely off. But it doesn't matter now considering we can't do anything about it; she's already been cast.

Yes, it is just you. You say yourself "I always picture". Did you expect WB to cast according to how you pictured her? Her appearance was never described in the books, thus no one can say "that's not what Lavender looks like" or "she doesn't look right". Saying that makes you look like a moron.
