I always pictured Lavender as Chris Columbus' daughter, the one who plays Susan Bones in the first and second movies. Maybe I should have read the first book before watched the first movie.

Yes, it is just you. You say yourself "I always picture". Did you expect WB to cast according to how you pictured her? Her appearance was never described in the books, thus no one can say "that's not what Lavender looks like" or "she doesn't look right". Saying that makes you look like a moron.

personally i pictured lavender as a very pretty blonde girl.
i think jessie fits the part perfectly.

yup. she doesn't really look like Lavender. I mean, the way I imagined her. I also picture her that way brunette, brown eyes and brown complexion, just like Parvati. Jessie Cave looks like the leading lady or something. I have to admit, she's really pretty. She doesn't look like the supproting actress material, more of a leading lady look.

I always thought she had a light purple, or lavender, skin color with brunette, or brown hair.

Well, the actress might have the features I always pictured for Lavender (I thought of her with light brown hair, fairly pale, but for the most part a plain-looking girl) but i think that the actress might be just a little
                too
pretty. i guess i never thought of Lav being anything special, so I assumed her appearance was rather blah as well.

How in the world can you say that she is not how Lavender should look?! LAVENDER'S CHARACTER WAS NEVER DESCRIBED IN THE BOOKS! Am I the only one who is so sick of people complaining about Jessie? Does it really matter if you pictured Lavender differently? It is not as if WB can read the fans' minds and cast the perfect girl. Everytime a girl is cast in the movies people find one tiny little imperfection about her and cut her down! She seems extremely good for the part and she is beautiful in my opinion! Come on people, WB knows what they are doing! If they didn't you wouldn't be fans of the movies.
~I bet she's tougher than that she runs with vampires~ Proud Twilight and Harry Potter fan!

Maybe the reason she was never described is because Lavender, in the words of Oscar Wilde, had "one of those characteristic British faces, that, once seen are never remembered", that she was plain/normal-looking enough that she wasn't worth describing.
