I loved her too!! She was a little bit crazy and exactly as clingy as I thought she should be 😄 Everyone laughed at her performance, especially after Lavender gets dumped, she was great!!

i know, she was so funny
her and the guy who played cormac were so hilarious and very skilled at their comedic roles
i dont understand all the hating that 'she isnt how they pictured lavender'
she is decsribed quite ambiguously like once, so i doubt the filmakers could please everyone with their casting
all that matters is that she did a good job 🙂

I haven't posted on this board before (infact, I haven't posted on any of the boards for any of the actors from the HP films before), but after seeing HBP yesterday and really enjoying it, I'm finding that I'm really gotten into discussing the film at the moment. It's especially surprising (that I liked this latest film so much), given that I didn't really enjoy the last HP film - OotP - much at all. I haven't read any of the books, but that's how I prefer it (as then I'm not one of the many many people complaining about what's left out/changed from the books). I can enjoy the films on their own merit and the way the characters are portayed based solely on the performances/how they're written, without having the books to compare them to.
Part of what made this latest film so enjoyable was the humour. Yes, the humour has definitely changed, and even 'matured' somewhat since the first few films rather kid-friendly slapstick humour. I actually got more laughs out of this movie than some of the earlier ones, and found the humour much better this time around.
One of the (many) contributing factors to my enjoyment of HBP was the love potion/liquid luck stuff and the resulting consequences from the use of those things. I loved all the scenes involving this stuff happening, and was quite impressed with Jessie Cave as Lavender Brown. She could have been pretty one-note and over-the-top (and, okay, to a degreeshe was somewhat like that), but at the same time, I thought Jessie managed to elevate the character above just the flat 1-dimensional character Lavender could have been (again, given that I haven't read the books, I don't know how multi-dimensional she was supposed to be).
I've read a few comments now (that occurred
          before
the movie came out) from people who said they were hoping to see her be "clingy"needy/annoying" etc - and, to me, that's pretty much how she came across onscreen (so I guess that means the character was a success, yes?). Having said that, I actually felt sorry for her when she had to witness - firsthand - Ron flat-out rejecting her and instead calling for Hermione when he was recovering. The way she reacted to that
          did
have quite a few people laughing (but in a good/intetional way) as she ran off, cryingbut at the same time, I thought it was also kind of sad to watch the character being made to feel that way, after she'd been so obsessed/supportive/happy around Ron. Possibly my favourite part was the scene that came after - her glaring daggers Ron's/Hermione's way (I honestly couldn't tell which one of them Lavender was hating
          more
in that scene - though probably Hermione).
Given that there wasn't a WHOLE lot to the Lavender character (onscreen anyway), I thought the actress they picked to play her did a very good job with what she had. I'm sure there'll be endless posts, complaining about how the character was presented/acted in the film vs. how she was written in the bookbut this is when not-reading the books comes in handy and is a thankful blessing. Ignorance is bliss and all that.

At first I couldn't picture her as Lavender but after seeing the film OHMYGOD! She was amazing and she had some of the funniest scenes of the film
"he senses my presence" made me almost die laughing but not as much as when she wrote her name and rons in a heart on the window. that bit just cracked me up
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just gonna ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later.

Absolutely. There were so many humourous moments in the movie, and quite a lot of them came from her character and the storyline involving her obsessing over Ron. I'm glad that I had nothing to compare the character to (ie. how she was in the books), as it allowed me to enjoy the actress's performance of the character for what it was. She could've come across as just simply 'annoying' and made me want her to get off the screen whenever she appeared, but the way she was written and acted made her such a joy to watch. For someone who had such a one-track mind, it was all the little insights into just how
                much
she cared for Ron that made the character 'likeable' (even though she might not have been intended as the most 'likeable' character ever).
The stuff you mentioned with her breathing and drawing the heart (not to mention Hermione finding it) was just one of many instances involving Lavender that cracked me up. As I've said, although she was played purely for laughs, I actually came to feel quite sorry for her by the end. Despite what others are saying, I think they cast this role well (though, admittedly, I didn't read the books, so I can't say for sure how dead-on she was with her portrayal - but then, tha5b4t's where not reading th books kind of becomes a benefit). While some of the previous HP movies brought in new characters I didn't particularly like, I really liked this movie and the new characters it introduced us to (like Lavender).

I thought she was perfect. So funny, and adorable not gonna lie. One thing I thought was perfect about her performance was the look she gave the trio after Ron dumped her. I thought daggers were gonna shoot out her eyes!

I wholeheartedly agree. Especially with the part where you said that, after Ron dumped her, you thought daggers were going to shoot out of her eyes. That was one hell of a death-glare she was giving Ron and/or Hermione. I was surprised we didn't see her just absolutely LOSE IT at that point.
She was cute, but to be honest she was annoying.
I'll concede that, yes, she did appear to be annoying poor Ron in the film (I mean, really, who'd want to be annoyed/followed around 24/7 by her like Ron was subjected to?). But even so, I still liked her. She was indeed cute, and that helped me not 'hate' her. As desperate, as clingy and annoying as she wasI still felt some sympathy for her. She was annoying for the characters in the film, sure, but for us the audience, I thought she was fun to watch onscreen.
We'd all been having a good laugh at Ron's expense (seeing her obsessing over him), and it was still somewhat funny even when he finally broke the news to her (albeit, when he was still out-of-it and recovering in the hospital bed) that he just was not that into herbut then, I couldn't help feeling a little sorry for her. Mainly, I think, because when it comes to these characters who have a one-track mind and the person they're obsessing over is ALL they ever think about/care about 24/7, when they finally get rejected, their thought process immediately leads them to believe that they have done something wrong/to displease the person (when all they've ever been trying to do is make that person
                      happy
). I just felt a bit sad for her, is all (but at least Ron's now out of that unhealthy 'relationship'). I wonder who Lavender will target next?

Well, she certainly did a good job of getting that personality across onscreen.b68 No prior knowledge of her character required, it was all in Jessie's performance. I just like the fact that, despite Lavender's 'annoying' obsessing over RonI was still able to feel sympathy towards her. I will always remember that dagger eyes look she gave him - it was one in a million. Kudos to Jessie Cave for such a great/memorable performance.

I honestly thought she was one of the best parts of the movie, personally. I appreciate the fact that they used the character to add levity to an otherwise heavy, angsty and melodramatic story.
She also reminded me of Jennifer Coolidge quite a bit (from Best in Show) who I find quite funny, but a much younger and more slender version of course.

When I found out about all the Lavender scenes, I was so angry because they were spending more time on the 'fluff' scenes rather than ones that are crucial to the story line. For example, the part about the Gaunts, Voldemort's mother and her family. I sooooooooooo wanted to see that in there. But Lavender was so cute, and had such pretty hair, and was such a girl in love that I couldn't help but like her! Particularly at the moment, when I'm realising how much love can be both a joy and a curse.
P.S. I loved the bit in the potions class where she is smel16d0ling the love potion. She looks like she's have a full on orgasm!
