There are entirely too many people that put so much stock in how they pictured Lavender when reading that they would actually complain because she doesn't look like they thought she should. I think many of those people don't actually remember that the picture they have in their head is just that, and not based on actual descriptions.
It won't be long before someone comes in here saying that it does describe her in HBP, but I still say that was just a figure of speech. -

Two things:
1.) It is a book.
2.) It is fiction.
Hence, use your imagination. She's going to look differently in every single person's mind.
As for the screen. Jo Rawling knows exactly what she's supposed to look like. If this girl got casted, then that's what Lavender looks like, and that's what she's supposed to look like.
'Nuff said. -

J K has been selling out on all of these movies. So many things they left out and changed. So what is J K approved? It just means she doesn't DISAPPROVE. But that doesn't mean it's the right look. None of us know, but I do remember the previous actress being, um, black? Take a hint.

JK has never sold out. Everyone needs to understand that not everything in the books can be included in the movies and the the books will ALWAYS be better. If people go in expecting things to be exactly like the books then you are setting yourself up for major disappointment.
That being said,I would like to see all of the nay sayers do a betterjob!!
And Lavender is white, they just got it wrong in the other movie, anyway, the role was non existant, just an extra who needed a name.
Everyone needs to stop taking everything so seriously and enjoy the movies for what they are: enjoyable ABRIDGED versions of the books! -

Im not sure where thats coming fromthough not widely advertised, every detail of the script, the casting, and the final cut of the films is approved by Rowling herself everytime. With Order of the Pheonix, for instance, there were several different versions of the script, and there were rewrites when ever there was something she saw needed to be change. She was actually very shrewed when negotiating her contract with WB, as she didnt go to them to sell the film rights, they came to her, so it had to be on her terms. She gos on record stating that if she ever fealt that they were not doing her books justice she would pull out in an instant!

Yeah, but fans complain about everything so I'm not completely surprised. I'm willing to give her a chance. She's very pretty so hopefully she has a good personality and good Lavender acting skills.

Well, as it's already been stated she's not "supposed" to have anything because she's never officially been decribed in the books. I too think Lavender should be pretty- I don't know if it's because she is mentioned as pretty in the books or if I just deemed her that way from her personality. But this actress, in my opinion, is really quite pretty, so I'm quite alright with her. i just hope she's good at being clingy and irritating.

I never pictured Lavender as pretty. Because a) Pretty girls weren't interested in Ron
(He's my favorite, and -I- love him, it wasn't an insult, more factual. Don't worry) and Ron only liked Fleur as a pretty girl. Hermione's not supposed to be attractive in the literal context. People just assume because Emma Watson is, that Hermione was, too. I guess Lavender should fall in between? LikeIf Fleur was exceptionally pretty and Hermione was alright, but her brains made up more of her "beauty", then Lavender should be the transition between the two?

I imagine Lavender as having very pale skin and long blond hair but not being amazingly pretty. I also imagined her as being quite silly and immature which but quite nice. I think the reason she was black in the first film (I don't actually remember there being a Lavender in it but it's been a long time since I watched it) is because they didn't know what was coming later. She was in the first book as a small part so the film makers just put her in. But then she suddnly becomes important and they can't just get the extra who did it in the first place to just take the role. This happened with another character in Harry Potter, although I can't remember who. The reason this happens, is JK Rowling uses very clever plot lines which mean that people or events which are small in the first books might become very important later on. This must make it hard for the film makers because they don't know what will be important later. That's the one problem with making the films be238fore the books are finished- you don't have an overall view of how the story will continue because the final few books haven't been written yet!
