Who cares though? I know it's already been said but in HBP when Lavender and Ron first get together it says something like you couldn't tell where Ron started and Lavender ended or something like that. This clearly shows Lavender is caucasian if she was Af. Am. then you would have been able to tel1908l the difference. A lot of people have the same idea of her because of PoA. In the credits they put Lavender Brown for a Af. Am. girl who has NOTHING in the movie. I'm guessing this was because they didn't want to just put "Extra" for so many people.
THERE IS NO DESCRIPTION OF LAVENDER IN THE BOOKS! The ended and started thing is the only description of her which shows she is white.
~I bet she's tougher than that she runs with vampires~ Proud Twilight and Harry Potter fan!

The "couldn't tell whose hands were whose" thing is just a figure of speech. It was not meant to be taken literally any more than "it was raining cats and dogs" means that there are actual cats and dogs falling from the sky.

I always imagined her white, kind of plain but pretty with brown hair..But hey lets give this girl a chance eh?
Clemence thingameebob wasn't at all how I imagined Fleur DeLacour either. But she was still pretty and good for the role.

To the other poster saying that Lavender is never described as being Afican American, um Lavender Brown is BRITISH not American.

I always imagined her with long and straight blonde or honey brown hair. I also imagined her to be kinda pretty and "conventionally" good looking and with a somewhat curvy kind of bodyin other words not really skinny, just kind of average size-wise. I think Jessie Cave will probably be fine!
              Just some food for thought,
              Peace, Y'all!

Dude I pictured her the exact same way, except really skinny instead of curvy.

i second that. since Lavender's physical appearance is never described in books, it seems all the actress has to do is act as a 'dumb blond' and makes hermione looks like the all perfect heroine, as always.
i just hope that they would shows that hermione has flaws too, like in the books, once

I think because her last name is "Brown" people just tend to think she has normal brown hair, and probably blueish purple eyes because of "Lavender" when really people shouldn't be upset because no one can picture her EXACTLY the same way and they can't please everyone so they just chose a girl who could act as Lavender well
                    theres stuff called hair dye
                    and makeup
Just saying I agree with you.

I've heard a few people say that they thought Lavender wasn't white because she was only mentioned in earlier books as hanging out with Parvati and Padma (or just one of them, don't remember anymore) and kind of thought she was non-white by association.

From the character, everyone pretty much has the same idea of what she should look like.
Jessie is too pretty to play Lavender. They should have chose someone, plainer.
