What's the general opinion on Jessie as Lavender then?

I don't think it's unfair, that's how it works. They casting directors hold more auditions than the open casting calls obviously, and they ended up liking an actress with experience.

Hmm I didn't realise this happened. Yeah I see your point, and I see why you feel it's unfair
I guess there's nothing to be done about it now though, and we should just see how it goes. Could have been worse, they could have broken the age rule and cast someone who didn't look the part at all
Then where would we all be? lol good luck to her and also good luck to SpizzyZan if she goes for anymore auditions ^^

Rupert is 19, after all. 20 is a lot closer to his age than a 15, 16, or 17 year old would have been! True, the older you get, the less a few years matter. But I recall it mattered quite a bit when I was a teenager!
That's just my opinion, though. You can take it or leave it. I don't really care.

Maybe it wouldn't have been a very good idea to cast someone who looked younger than Rupert. We have to admit that Rupert looks a bit older than the age he's supposed to have in the films That might have been one of the reasons they cast a girl her age- to match Rupert. Otherwise, it would be very odd having a boy who looks 20 snogging a girl who looks 15. A bit disturbing, if you ask me!! -

I agree, I thought the way she got the role was completely unfair
but I am sure she will do a great job in HBP
I was really hoping someone from the open audition would of gotten the role
Because that means their HP fans like us.

Christmas!!

Oh my god me too! I'm so glad you said that, I have no idea where I got this impression from but I was positive that this was the case lol. I thought maybe I had just read it in a fan fiction or something and gotten it confused with the canon
lol I guess we both read the same one or something!

OMG the WonWon scenes are going to be hilarious, I watch the films with my family, and out of all of us my dad is the only one who hasn't read the books, his reaction is going to be so funny.
I'm glad they're finally bringing in Lavender, (of course they have to in this film)out of all the Gryffindors mentioned in the books in Harry's year, Lavender is the only one that hasn't been introduced.
Jessie's not exactly how I pictured Lavender to look, but saying that, as soon as I saw her pic, I thought, 'yep that's Lavender'. -

In the PoA film, they gave a random black girl who is an extra the name of 'Lavender Brown', maybe just so they didn't have to call her "Extra". But she's never been in any of the other films. Lavender's appearance has never been described in the books, though I thought I remembered HBP saying she had blonde hair

I don't really have an opinion, I've never heard of this girl before. But uh I was under the impression that Lavender was black? that kinda bugs me she's not
Well nowhere in the book does JK refer to Lavender as being black even though she makes sure to specify that others like Lee Jordan, Angelina Johnson, and Dean Thomas are black. You are probably under that impression because someone cast a black girl for Lavender in the 3rd movie, and they probably did this because she hadn't really emerged as a character in the books yet, so they had no reason to think otherwise
