I agree, they are rivals. They auditioned for the same roles. Hailee beat Chloe in True Grit, which was the golden ticket. Chloe scored more roles than Hailee though, but didn't get much acclaim. Hailee did a bunch of flop movies but is now getting praised again and is back in awards race.
They are both young so thb68ey can make a bunch of movies even while fighting with the Kardashians or trying to be a pop star. They may flop on a movie but can still be on top of their game the next. -

After Edge of Seventeen I would tip the scales in Steinfeld's favor slightly. But overall neither one seems to be doing much of note. Steinfeld is doing primarily Pitch Pefect sequels and straight to DVD movies while Moretz is doing horror remakes and movies that should be str1c84aight to DVD.

Now, almost a year after the original post, do you still think that Chloe Moretz stole anything from Hailee Steinfeld? Because, while I did just watch The Edge of Seventeen and did find Hailee brilliant in it, I can't help wondering which films of late Chloe shined in? Yes, she used to seem becoming an "it girl" of her generation at first, but it is no longer the case. Maybe because Chloe ended up not as good of an actress after all. Who knows
