I just received the DVD for
Out of The Past
for Christmas. It's on a list of "52 Essential American Films". I've seen all but six. The other five are on my Netflix List.

Because they don't really show up on greatest movies lists. AFI's list of the best 100 movies doesn't have a single entry from 1947. Either does IMDB's top 250.
