OT: IMDB "HOUSECLEANING"

The IMDb regularly purges old posts, especially those on the Politics Board.
All of my posts from that board prior to last year are gone, but so what, I don't read them anymore and neither does anyone else. Posts on the CFB, FG and other movie boards vanish after about two years.
Posts from the specific title boards still remain from the day I joined the IMDb, and some of those haven't had additional input for years.
If you are worried about your prior posts (film reviews, newly discovered information, etc.) make a copy of your work. Many do. Otherwise, look to the future.

There are some posters that I know have died, yet I still find their posts on IMDB. Not on the politics board however. I will not reveal their names, as I miss their intelligent, sometimes funny remarks, and would hate to see them be deleted.

Thank you all for your kind words.
As hob said, we all tend to go overboard sometimes, and as I said in the OP, tension is especially high in the US these days.
IMDb does expunge whole threads, usually to keep the page count down.
That makes me sad, because I have had some fascinating conversations with people on other boards (especially GWTW).
I confess that I started some of those threads.
And sometimes, when I do check old threads, I find that numerous posts had "been deleted by an administrator."
That's what led me to believe that some posters have been suspended or banned.
Again, thank you. -

I wish folks would just stick to movies. There are plenty of venues for other subjects. Then they wouldn't have to worry so much about profanity and name calling. Although I have been continually surprised at how worked up people get over movies. I always thought it was shills for competing movies and maybe some enemies of cast members. I know Hollywood and the film industry itself can get pretty mean. Personally I've mostly just ignored things about movies I didn't see and don't care to and ones I didn't like. I will rarely if ever will post a negative comment, maybe just question something. So if anything I hope they eliminate all the non cinema categories as they seem to bleed over into the movie ones. I find it irritating to see political rants in among movie discussions.

It happens often on Film General where some innocent posters have their history wiped or even deleted. That being said you aren't so innocent with those comments about wishing Vanessa Redgrave dead and then having the cheek to report the posters who correctly called you out on it.

with those comments about wishing Vanessa Redgrave dead and then having the cheek to report the posters who correctly called you out on it.
I was one of them. I had seldom been so insulted (and coarsely to make it worse) and even threatened, not even on the Politics Board, where I posted for a while years ago. Then there was the other guy who called Vanessa Redgrave a "Nazi" (she, who has always been a left-wing militant, even a radical!!), a baiter and a troll who did the same: report, insult, defame, etc. And snsurone "thanked" him for it (for calling Redgrave a "Nazi").
Fortunately, snsurone realised the kind of person he is and slowed down and even broke off. He lost his only "friend", with whom he wasn't very nice either. What a bitter guy, really.
Not a single post of mine has been "deleted by an administrator" in a very long time (years),, which shows the credibility of those who reported me or say they did, because reporting (especially false or unfair reporting) is a double-edged sword and has cost some posters their entire posting history, which was deleted. And they know this, the guy by personal experience. -

I saw it mate. I took a break from IMDB and saw JeffersonCody's comments so checked her history and sure enough came across it. The worst thing is I don't get the feeling snsurone is trolling but rather she means it which makes it all the more disturbing.
The other guy I'm assuming you mean HenryTheKing? He's like me in that we can be serious users with the odd bit of trolling here and there but not the trolling that wishes death on people for their politics. -

Wishing death is much worse, of course, but insulting Vanessa Redgrave repeatedly and calling her "Nazi", as "Henrey"/"Henery" did is pretty serious too, like calling me "anti-Semitic as* simply because I complained. One of the problems this guy has is that he seems unable to control his tongue.
He just stalked me and came to a thread just to disparage me.
http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000010/nest/265540782?d=265628731#265628731
. I could never even think of stalking "Henrey" or anyone else, look at his profile, choose one of his posts on Film General or wherever and go there just to disrupt, attack and insult. Out of respect for that board, the OP and the other posters of the thread. Also out of respect for myself.
To call Vanessa Redgrave a Nazi, someone who "saw" Nazi bombs falling over her home in Greenwich, London, when she was a kid, and who later became a left wing militant for all her life, is not only insulting, but stupid, false and inaccurate. Simply because she is anti-Zionistic and criticised some of the State of Israel's policies. But hundreds of thousands of Jews (including some very good friends of mine in London and New York) ARE anti-Zionists and critical of some of Israel's policies, so what? And to confuse anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism is sheer ignorance or bad faith. -

A remark an old family friend made more than once was:
'always beware the Gentile who likes to use the phrase anti-Semitic a lot. It almost always means they've got something to hide.'
For some reason I get a distinct feeling this could apply to 'Henrey' pretty aptly.

Yes, I agree with both paragraphs.
"Henrey" is a teen or someone with the mental age of a teen. He just wrote
Get a hobby, get a life and if you can't, take your medicines.
I have come across hundreds of teens on Internet fora and message boards writing EXACTLY that, those very words, it's almost a cut-and-paste job. A stereotyped phrase, a cheap cliché.
It's not only that, he keeps giving himself away and he is so naïve or so idiotic that he doesn't seem to realise it. For more details, see my last reply on the THE NAKED JUNGLE thread, which he invaded after stalking me without the slightest respect for the thread, the OP, the subject and the posters who were there.
I wonder: why doesn't he go to The Watercooler? There he could play with MEQ and other people -

No, I think Henery is a pro-israel Jew (as am I), and, sadly, that makes him a Trump supporter.
He (like some friends of mine) believe that Trump would be more of an ally to Israel than Obama was.
But, so far, Trump has said nothing regarding Israel and Netenyahu' policies there.
Granted, a number of Jews like amysghost have ambiguous feelings here.
Besides, I am an American, and I fear Trump's policies would undermineif not actually destroythe progress made in the US over the last hundred years or so.
And as for Vanessa Redgrave, you seem to be of the opinion that I'm about to pop across the Pond and murder her!
What BS!!
Let's just say that I will NOT grieve when she finally leaves this mortal coil.
Oh, BTW, this June marks the 50th anniversary of the Six-Day War and the reunification of Jerusalem. -

No, I think Henery is a pro-israel Jew (as am I),
So what? For starters, that's your opinion (or you have private information we don't know?), and then aren't there immature teens who are "pro-israel Jews", or are the members of the 'Chosen People' exempt? And I don't tolerate a bloody stupid teenJewish or Gentile, I couldn't care lessto call me "anti-Semite as*hole" or whatever he wrote.
Granted, a number of Jews like amysghost have ambiguous feelings here.
Why "ambiguous"? She's a very coherent person and has explained her opinions here several times.
The majority of my Jewish friends, especially in London and NYC do not believe in Jewish messianism and don't like Zionism and some of Israel's policies, but they are "100% Jewish", like you, and celebrate Jewish holidays and traditions and are proud of their culture and their ancestors. Some of them even learned Hebrew.
And as for Vanessa Redgrave, you seem to be of the opinion that I'm about to pop across the Pond and murder her!
"You" in plural or "you" referring to ME? If you are addressing ME, you are WRONG, I never said such a thing and I don't think that. An apparent reductio ad absurdum can be very misleading if it's used wrongly. But rejoicing in the possible news of the death of a famous actress is pretty nasty, don't you think? Unbecoming of a "little old lady" like you ("Henrey"'s words referring to you shortly before his "nature" led him to "sting" you as well, as if he were the scorpion and you were the frog in Aesop's fable).
http://www.aesopfables.com/cgi/aesop1.cgi?4&TheScorpionandtheFrog
Let's just say that I will NOT grieve when she finally leaves this mortal coil.
Fine, that's your right. If you had said just that and you had not thanked "Henrey" for having called Redgrave Nazi (VANESSA-REDGRAVE-IS-NOT- A-NAZI) there wouldn't have been any problem and now we would be discussing Ben-Hur as friendly as we were (I seldom have been nicer and kinder to/with anyone as I was with you) before all this took place.
Can you possibly write without BSs and three- and four-word words? It's just a matter of courtesy, you know, especially after the coarse language you used against me very recently. Other people would NEVER have replied to you until you apologised for that.
Oh, BTW, this June marks the 50th anniversary of the Six-Day War and the reunification of Jerusalem.
I know, I know, I studied History and besides I always commemorate historical events. It's a very interesting war and I understand that Israelis (including, of course, Yitzhak Rabin before he was assassinated
by a right wing Israeli fanartic
are/were proud of it. I have read three books about it, including A.J. Barker's and Shabtai Teveth's 'The Tanks of Tammuz' (this was his first book). Plus articles in History magazines, Internet stuff and the like. Did you read something about it? And by the way, in that war I was pro-Israel, of course. I didn't want Nasser to destroy Israel with those rockets with terrible names and I didn't want the others to "throw the Jews into the Sea"
As for Yerushalayim/Jerusalem/al-Quds (please note the order), in my humble opinion it should be an international city ruled by religious and academic authorities (plus a special police, medical services, etc), not civil or military ones, and it shouldn't be part of any country. -
HenreyTheKing — 9 years ago(February 02, 2017 12:09 AM)
Not surprisingly derWreck's "final solution" regarding Jerusalem is not dissimilar to that of one Adolf Hitler. It took the courage and foresight of one Winston Churchill, and the blood, sweat and tears of many a young British soldiers to pre-empt that cleansing of Jerusalem, and now these left wing ideologues are going to "finally get it done"? I don't think so. Jerusalem will remain in Jewish hands, under ONE God.
But for me seeing through his folly he acts like a vampire exposed to the light. Another meltdown coming in 3, 2, 1 ?
PS. I'm tired of "policing" the board (not my future profession once I seize to be a teenager) so I'll let this go on here, but if the baiting and proselytizing on "satan's synagogue" spills on innocent movie discussion, I may be back, with a hot new REPORT button at hand. -
amyghost — 9 years ago(February 02, 2017 04:20 AM)
You may not be the only one running with a REPORT button, 'Henrey'. IMDb has had complaints about rogue admins before, perhaps you're one of them, as you seem to be awfully confident in your powers to have accounts flagged and deleted via your 'policing' (a telling choice of word, that).
You may have 'seized' to be a teenager chronologically speaking, but that adenoidal-sounding post makes it appear that in your heart and your forebrain you will be one now and always.
