Why is James Rolfe still making AVGN videos?

This is something that's been on my mind for a while now. James Rolfe has been doing the AVGN series for over ten years now. The recent "Beavis & Butthead" episode was a complete clusterbleep. On every possible level, it failed at being funny or entertaining. I was actually cringing when I viewed it. Is this going to be how they all are now? Have we gotten to that point, where he makes them only because it's his job and he needs to make money for his family and not because he truly enjoys doing it? Because that is what it looks like to me. And I really hate seeing it happen.
Two years ago I wrote a post here called "My opinion 5b4of him". And I feel the same way now. He clearly no longer cares and he's only going through the motions at this point. After he "made it" with that "movie" of his, the consistently high quality and laugh factor of the AVGN content pretty much disappeared. But for some reason, he doesn't seem to realize that when you've reached your peak and when you've conquered everything there is to be done in your field, it's time to bow out gracefully and leave with as much of your dignity intact as possible.
James is doing the opposite of that. He seems to be purposefully trudging on and putting forth substandard material and not stopping to consider the damage it is doing to his reputation and his career. And I feel bad for the guy, his wife, and their daughter. He is almost at the point where he has become an embarrassment. He already ended Board James and You Know What's Bulls***, and there will be one more Monster Madness. I honestly believe that the AVGN series should officially come to an end at some point in the next year. That's a really unpopular and controversial thing to say about James, but it is how I feel about the situation. Go out while you're still on top - or as much on top that you can possibly manage.
All good things must come to an end. And it's time for AVGN to come to one. -

Exactly. And I wrote the above post BEFORE the abominations that were Berenstain Bears and Sega Accessories. They were both absolute s***. AVGN has officially jumped the shark. And it's such a shame because before those three vids, he did the ones on Paperboy, Mega Man, and MK: Sub-Zero, which I really liked. It's like he went from really good to absolutely terrible practically overnight. He just doesnt have it anymore. I feel sorry for him in a way. It's like he has no idea how bad his most three recent episodes were and there's nobody around him to tell him the truth about how much they suck. As for the rumor that he's a cuck and that he enjoys watching black men have sex with his wife, well, I dont care about their personal lives, it's irrelevant. The bottom line is that his video game reviewing schtick has become stagnant and he is only going through the motions and that it's clear that he really doesn't care anymore. I want him to do a finale episode at some point this year and bring the Nerd character to an end. That doesnt mean he has to kill him off, just have his story arc end for good and I'll be happy. It's long overdue to happen. I really wish James would realize that..

Everything eventually runs its course, especially creatively. You are right, now him and Mike Matei are just throwing out content now to get views to run up their YouTube check. Hell I don't blame them, I'd suck that tittty until it went dry too. But they shouldn't argue that the AVGN episode are anywhere near the quality that they were even a couple of years ago. Still love the old ones though.
