I discovered him sometime in 2007. For whatever reason, I typed in "Back to the Future Game Reviews" or something similar at YouTube. I seen his Back to the Future episode and laughed a lot.

similar story for me, I was looking up random Friday the 13th vids on youtube and found the game review, I liked it and then watched the elm street one. liked that one too and then decided to watch his earlier videos and I went from there, it would have been in 2007 too. and this was before gametrailers and screw attack..I think.

It was in 2006 I think, I wrote Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on YouTube because I enjoy the Turtles.
I found his review and having played the game as a kid, I thought it was VERY enjoyable.
I wasn't subscribing to people so I kinda forgot about him until I saw his Friday the 13th video and Nightmare on Elmstreet on the same day. I then became a fan and watched all of those who he had done and have followed his work since.

I started when I was reading an online forum about a film called Arabian Knight (The Thief and the Cobbler) while they discussed other works the director worked on (one of them being Who Framed Roger Rabbit).
One post had a link to AVGN's review of thr Roger Rabbit NES game, and that was my first exposure to him. Afterwards, I moved along and went with my business, since I didn't have a YouTube account yet.
Then in early 2007, I stumbled onto another of his reviews, this time for Back to the Future, and from there, I was hooked and instantly subscribed to his page -

It was around summer 2006. I was on YouTube looking for clips from the Where's Waldo cartoon series and I came across ericmansuper's game review of Where's Waldo on the NES. I found it to be hilarious and I remembered at the beginning he said that it was a tribute to the Angry Nintendo Nerd. So I looked him up and watched McKids, Double Dragon III and Caslevania II and I've been a huge fan since.

I don't remember when, but I remember stumbling on to his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III review and laughing so hard through the review. Then I checked out his other videos and instantly became a fan!

James Rolfe has coined new variations on curse words! He used something physiological to describe The Wizard of Oz for the Super Nintendo! He's funnyeven if his humor is foul mouthed. His movie reviews are neat, as well. He loves Godzilla and Jackie Chan movies as much as I do. Mr. Rolfe is an ambitious filmmaker and I hope he finds success.
BTW, who is the cute blonde girl in his home movies? Is she a sibling or a neighbor? -

A friend of mine sent me a link to a review parodying the AVGN, by some guy named Ebeeto ( http://www.youtube.com/user/Ebeeto ).I found that to be really funny, checked for the source, the rest is history.
It should be noted that Ebeeto is not ripping James off. He's acknowledged him, he has a distinct, psychopathic style, and he said many times that he's mocking all the AVGN wannabes. -

Back in 2007 I looked up Die Hard NES on Google and I saw the trailer for his review. I thought it was funny, but I didn't watch a full episode until December 2007 when I saw his Christmas episode. I have been a big fan since then.

I think I found him through his first AVGN video. Not at the time it was released, but yeah. I think I searched for Castlevania II and his video popped up. Might have been in 2006 or 2007. I think he only had a few videos up. I knew him as only "JamesNintendoNerd". I'm not sure whether or not he called himself the AVGN yet, if it simply wasn't in the title, or if I just don't remember it. Was before his team-up with ScrewAttack/GameTrailers. And before the intro.
Ah, I remember sitting there all night watching his videos.
Doesn't quite feel the same, now that he has millions of viewers.
He probably had at least a few thousand subscribers when I discovered him. Certainly not over 500 thousand. I wasn't among the first to discover him, but I'm certainly not a new fan.

My cousin kind of introduced me to him without even knowing it. You see, back when I lived in Washington state, my cousin came over to my house last night, and I can't remember how this came up, but he told me that his favorite movie of all time was Top Gun. A couple of months later, I moved to Virginia and found Top Gun for sale of DVD at a good price, so I decided to check it out, and I really liked it, so I ended up looking up Top Gun on Youtube, and his review of the game was one of the videos that came up, so I watched it, and I've been a fan ever since.
