Back in 2007 I looked up Die Hard NES on Google and I saw the trailer for his review. I thought it was funny, but I didn't watch a full episode until December 2007 when I saw his Christmas episode. I have been a big fan since then.

I think I found him through his first AVGN video. Not at the time it was released, but yeah. I think I searched for Castlevania II and his video popped up. Might have been in 2006 or 2007. I think he only had a few videos up. I knew him as only "JamesNintendoNerd". I'm not sure whether or not he called himself the AVGN yet, if it simply wasn't in the title, or if I just don't remember it. Was before his team-up with ScrewAttack/GameTrailers. And before the intro.
Ah, I remember sitting there all night watching his videos.
Doesn't quite feel the same, now that he has millions of viewers.
He probably had at least a few thousand subscribers when I discovered him. Certainly not over 500 thousand. I wasn't among the first to discover him, but I'm certainly not a new fan.

My cousin kind of introduced me to him without even knowing it. You see, back when I lived in Washington state, my cousin came over to my house last night, and I can't remember how this came up, but he told me that his favorite movie of all time was Top Gun. A couple of months later, I moved to Virginia and found Top Gun for sale of DVD at a good price, so I decided to check it out, and I really liked it, so I ended up looking up Top Gun on Youtube, and his review of the game was one of the videos that came up, so I watched it, and I've been a fan ever since.

A few years ago an old friend just happen to show me his review for one of the Friday The Thirteen games.
Let's just say that's still one of my favorite episodes.

I can't remember exactly what brought the AVGN to my attention, but I assume I was looking up gameplay videos on YouTube and the colorful, in-your-face, punk rock, retro AVGN logo caught my eye. Long live the AVGN!

One of my buddies sent me a link to his review of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" back in 07 when I was a Junior in high school, and I got to say, I will never forget watching him for the first time. So many laughs. I loved it so much I did my own version of his theme song. You can see it here! I believe he even favorited it on youtube like he did with every other cover of the tune!

Discovered him this winter. I heard1ebc his reputation but I wasn't interested in these kind of review (I prefer them to be informative and I had quite a few bad experiences with Youtube critics (I won't name them). I was also a bit put off by him bashing Castlevania II, one of my favorite game). But, while I was looking for information on Action 52, I decided to watch the episode out of curiosity. I was surprised that not only it was pretty well researched, but it was funny as hell (laughed from the beginning to the end). I then watched the episode and the rest is history.
The more I watch them, the more my respect for James Rolfe grow. Keep up the good work, man. I'll be looking forward to the movie and watch for that dreaded rainbow. -

I was watching Irate Gamer, and discovered through reviews and comments on that guy's videos where I heard, N5b4erd fans were bashing the beep out of him. So I checked out this Angry Video Game Nerd. And ya know, I gave up Irate Gamer and have been a fan of James Rolfe ever since. They only thing I do not care for that he's done is the concept of beep
