His boorish behavior suggests some kind of deep-seeded self-hatred. Plus, he seems kind of mean, defensively bullyish, but soft.
I know going thru puberty as the Most Famous Kid in the World can't be easy, and it will inevitably affect behavior, but that can't explain everything.
Aside from fangurls (who can't be objective) does anybody have an analysis for this?

The reason for his boorish behavior is his unrequited love for Leonardo DiCaprio. The frustration of being rebuffed by Leo has driven Justin over the edge.

Nah, just a severe case of affluenza.
Too much, too soon.
Elvis, Marilyn, Amy Winehouse, Judy Garlandetc.
David Cassidydui and money worries(?) Later in life.
Bobby Sherman and Donny Osmond are doing OK..so Bieber can survive if he gets off the cough syrup or whatever crap he's doing.

I don't think it has to do with being gay.
The kid was allowed to be a douche since the beginning. My first warning sign was when he dissed Tom Brady's hair. Instead of calling him out for doing something immature and stupid, the press simply laughed it off. One reporter thought the rap was pretty good (it wasn't).
So, the entertainment industry continued to cuddle his dickish behaviour until he became a full blown douche.
Had he led an ordinary life, where people would call him as a-hole, or spank him, and where such behaviour eventually leaves you lonely, he would not be as nearly as dysfunctional as he is now.
The entertainment industry created this monster. -

The entertainment industry created this monster.
Wrong, the entertainment industry and we, the public, create all these monsters. Look at what an arrogant bitch Mado5b4nna for example is. And this coming from a Madonna fan. Why could she become so high and mighty? Because we along with the industry allow stars to become so huge. I have never been such a fan, who screams his lungs out or faints, but many people act this way, make them feel like they're bigger than God and some become impossible like Madonna, others can't live up to it like Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston and die.
But we are all to blame, not just the entertainment industry. -

Don't be so sure "we" have as much to do with it as you think the industry is much more controlled than people realize.
People are sneering at JB's claims that he's not really the creep he's appeared to be, but I'm kind of in the middle on it as to whether or not I believe him.
On one hand, he's responsible for his own behavior. On the other hand, in recent years, the industry has really pressured, directly or indirectly, young stars to act badly in order to generate scandalous press (since the actual projects don't seem to matter anymore).
We'll see.
My guess is that there's a real creep beneath the put-on creep. Which is a shame because he seems quite molestable.

Then again, maybe his mea culpa this week
is
sincere because people are blowing it off. They tend to be much more accepting of apologies when it's disingenuous.
But they're not accepting Bieber's. So perhaps he actually means it.
