The artists in the 90s were Much better than MOST of today's music you meant..Taylor is a conservative religious personTaylor and some of tofay's other artists (can't remember who exactly at the moment though) were infleunced by them. What about Backstreet Boys's gang banging or New Kids's thug. Many of today's artists (who, after all, were poushed by their managers to do the music they do) and fans WOULD agree. Beiber./.yecDue to the 90s music fans being still yuong, they're played,..tosday's pop artists are religious, so the are good role modelsI can't stand Bieber due to some of his religious stances or rape promoting. How do you feel about some 90s arts and 80s ones like Michael jackson or Nick Carter going around like rappers?
Amanda Bynes is hot and Lindsay Lohan is not.

Pop music has never been good. Sure it's more manufactured now but that doesn't make it better or worse, it's still designed for the masses and will eventually take a career to the county fair.

I was in my teens in the 1990's and i could not answer your question i am afraid because already then i listened to real music not product music.
From what i do remember yes it was better.

The 80s was the last decade for some great music, IMO.
The 00's and 10's has to be the worst.

You're either showing memory bias (only remembering the good songs from the 80's) or are just tragically misinformed on the music of todays world. Don't let people like One DIrection and Justin Bieber sour your view of the whole industry when there are many many bands out there doing really amazing things. I would argue that as time progresses music gets better and better due to the sheer fact that we now have more power to listen to what we want. There were talented people in the 60's, 70's and 80's that just never got a shot because they had no platform to do so. The internet now gives those amateurs a platform and music is better for it.

Disagree, but show me some bands doing amazing things. Great music was more popular in the past, now you have to wade through piles and piles of crap to find it, so no, I'd say music is not getting better.

                  The Head and The Heart
The Avett Brothers (I and Love and You is the best album of the past 10 years)
                  The Black Keys
                  White Stripes
                  The Tallest Man on Earth
If I knew what you liked I could be more specific, but that's a good start.

I like what I like, really, but jazz and rock, mostly.

Jazz? Check out Gregory Porter. His song "Be Good" is one of my absolute favorites.
If you like Rock than you should know The Black Keys and The White Stripes. Some others from the 90's til now include The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nuetral Milk Hotel, Radiohead, Paramore, The Strokes, The Weeks, Blind Pilot. And I'm only taking about stuff that is pretty mainstream. There's plenty of great rock stuff out there.

The 90's had great music across the board.. Jodeci, EnVogue, Janet Jackson, After 7, Monica, Brandy, Usher, Mariah Carey,Brian McKnight.. That is just a few in the R&B realm. Tupac, Ice Cube, Scarface, Jay-Z,Nas.. And God knows how many other great hip-hop artists.. Pop had Madonna, Pink,Destiny's Child, Paula Abdul.. Hell even Michael Jackson was still making music throughout the 90's. This is just a small list of the unbelievably talented artists of that decade. Nothing being produced today can match it..

I was born in 1991, so music to me back in the late '90s and early '00s growing up has it's hit or miss. Oh, you also forgot No Authority, 98 Degrees, LFO, Aaron Carter, BBMak, O-Town, Play, and B2K . Aaron was such a babe back in the day and most people now often refer to him as the original Justin Beiber (which is something that offends me sometimes lol).

90s was one of the best decades ever for music, and the ea5b4rly 00s. most of today's mainstream music is sickening, I'm christian and there was some especially great christian music from the 90s, that's when you bands like Jars of Clay, Newsboys (the real Newsboys)were just getting started, Amy Grant was still pretty good, switchfoot, I think came about the late 90s early 00s.. and there there is Lifehouse.. I was born in 1990. so maybe I'm a bit nostalgic of that era. everything just seemed better then. if you want anything good from today. you have to go Alternative/Indie. like mumford & sons, of Monsters and Men. Imagine Dragons, the Lumineers to name a few. the 80s was pretty good. hate anything pretty much from the 70s though

Some of the 90's music was quite good as for this, think Bieber is the cherry ontop of the mall rat Disney pop continuum, It can't get worse than this skinny vane warped little mutt , where materialism & the shallow collide in perfect stupidity.
He looks like he's going to have problems with speed later, head on collisions with walls, trucks , trains & such.
