It's not like Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield look identical. They look very different. And along with Tom Holland they are all white guys, who are not Gingers or Blondes and they all look 3-5 years younger than their true age. There is NO REASON to say Tom Holland doesn't look enough like Peter Parker for a movie.

We need them brown eyes. Without brown eyes this movie is sure to flop.

It also stars Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor, and probably a few others I'm forgetting (but mostly unknowns, otherwise). It's about the 2004 Tsunami in Asia (Boxing Day/December 26th) and its immediate aftermath. It's arguably the best of the films made about the subject so far (there was a 2-part HBO made-for-TV movie as well with some good performances, but it didn't grab emotionally the way The Impossible did).
This kid was the star more than the well-known adults, he held it all together. He'll be excellent as Peter Parker, unless the script absolutely blows.

Same, Logan Lerman could have been great!

No offence but I am very relieved Lerman did not get the part. He's too good looking and doesn't have the nerd face.

He was always the best option among the contenders.
              The best actor by far.
The one who looked like Peter Parker the most.
And he's also a fantastic dancer which means he'll be able to pull off most of Spidey's stunts.
So, all in all, I'm pretty happy about this choice.

I still wish Asa had gotten the role but this kid will do I saw two of his movies and he was good in them.

This is a terrific choice. Holland should have been Oscar nominated for THE IMPOSSIBLE. An incredible little actor, and he can move well too. He played BILLY ELLIOT on the London Stage for nearly 2 years.

bubblebobo> I'd say looks matters at least a little. it depends on the character and I'd say Spider-Man, who is iconic even among icons, is one of them.
And a black Blade in the movies? How different from the black Blade of the comics.

I think he'll make a cool Spiderman. He has that irritating, dorky look for a Peter Parker (I mean that in a good way) Peter Parker is suppose to look dorky.
                          I think he'll be excellent

Marvel hardly goes wrong, but I don't want high school Peter and I thought Andrew Garfield was the perfect Spider-Man.
But who knows? I've never seen this kid before and he might have chops.

                              What A Lovely Day.

Personally I think he has the spidey look more so than Maguire or Garfield, hopefully he's the first to nail both Peter Parker and Spiderman, where his predecessors IMO only nailed one or the other.
Marvel hasn't beep up a casting so far, I trust them and am keen to see him on screen.

Think he is going to be superb He is really young looking and his Instagram videos show amazing gymnastic skills. His dance training will also help give a more graceful look in his Spider-Man moves and everyone wo has worked with him have nothing but good things to say. This kid will be the definitive Spider-Man and he will be in the Marvel universe.
