I've always had a problem with the word "Effete".
Not the word itself but how it is pronounced in English.
It's pronounced (To use the English grammic language here) effeet, which would be much better suited to being efite or effit to my mind
But yeah, those droids and Vader sure had some good times together

Artoo was on the Invisible Hand with both Obi-Wan and Anakin when they were rescuing Palpatine from Grevious. He escorted Anakin and Padme on their first foray into love on Naboo. He was even there when Anakin met Qui-Gon Jinn for the first time.
When he says "My boys" he's talking about two droids that have been with him for most of his life prior to becoming Vader. He (re)built Threepio and met Artoo when he met Padme. They have had loads of adventures together.
