When did she learn English?

I was surprised that the child actress in Instructions Not Included is Mexican and raised in Mexico. She speaks flawless American accented English in the English-speaking scenes. It reminded me of the scenes in Man on Fire where Dakota Fanning played a blond haired, blue-eyed half Mexican girl, but seemed 100% American because they used an American actress. In this case, I was shocked to learn the actress is Mexican. She could easily pass for an American actress and could probably cross over to Hollywood films easily.

That's kinda racist. I get it comes as a shock for a loooooooooooot of people, but here in Mexico we have a lot of blondes, blue eyes, white skin, english speaking people.
Not everyone, actually, most people don't have Salma's accent nor Eva Longoria's skin tone. hun: Belive itor not, we don't travelin burro!!!
It is colder than Angelina. She took that sad old lady's husband.- Stewie G -

I don't see how its "racist" to point out the usual demographics of the country. There are probably black people in Sweden somewhere too, but it wouldn't be typical to see them if you visited the country. I've never met a "blonde haired, blue eyed, white skin, english speaking person" from Mexico.
In fact, the movie itself makes that exact point because Mexicans assume his daughter is American due to her appearance, and in the movie the character has an American mother. Is Eugenio Derbez "kinda racist" for writing it that way rather than have the actress play a 100% Mexican character? -

It is not so strange, she is not the Latin setereotype that Hollywood sells. Usually the industry made them change their names if they are white, like Rachel Wells (Raquel Tejada). One of our actors had to put black eyelents because he has blue eyes and that doesnt fit with Hollywood stereotypes. I myself live in a city founded by europeans in latin america

First of all, Raquel maintained her middle name which is Raquel and dropped her first name Jo. Second of all Welch NOT Wells is the married name of her first husband which she claimed as her own. Her agent made her use her first husbands last name so she can avoid being typecast as a Latina.
It would be so nice if something would make sense for a change.
