sure but some of us hoped she would do more advanced stuff
Yes, but I don't think that the "advanced stuff" is really available at the moment. There are really just a few interesting roles for actresses of that age out there. Normally they either get coming of age roles or they play the daughter of a more important character.
Millie actually got extremely lucky in getting such a compelling role like Eleven in
Stranger Things
. Since these type of roles are extremely rare at that age. -

i think that she could carry a whole movie with a compelling and ambitious role regardless of her age. like many here wrote before, they would watch anything that she is in, because she has "it" (whatever it is).
Yes, but who knows? Maybe her role in this is somehow compelling? -

I agree with you guys. I, too, was hoping she would do something with a little (lot) more 'depth'. She is certainly capable of grabbing one's emotions.
Eleven, according to the Duffers, Levy and others, even her own co-stars have admitted that she was supposed to be a lot less that what she became.
My guess is no more than another cliched 'escaped lab experiment that causes a lot of havoc'.
She (Millie) is tiny, cute as a button and disarmingly charming to the point of being kind of mesmerizing. She dictated her 'haircut' and continuously hounded the Duffers about adding dialogue and re-shooting scenes they were already happy with. Several of her 're-shoots' ended up in the series. They've all agreed that if Eleven hadn't worked, the series wouldn't have worked.
I'm hoping that she can pull off some of that magic on this

That's what I was hooping for too, but this choice only leads me to the conclusion that despite being Insanely Talented she is more after the fame. -

Those things are not mutually exclusive. The greatest stars in Hollywood do both. Sometimes they do projects for critical acclaim and sometimes they do big blockbusters. Millie already has a lot of critical acclaim coming from her role as Eleven, so it makes sense for her to also do a big movie that will help increase her profile among people who don't watch the show. -

It Doesn't make sense to me. I'm sick and Tired of Mindless Hollywood crap. NOT EVERYONE is into Hollywood Blockbuster type of movies and TBH I was hoping she would hold out for better roles even that meant waiting a few more years. -

My worry is that she won't be in S3 and if that's case as you yourself said then why is she choosing a project that will conflict with something better like ST?!
Turns out
Godzilla 2
is going to start shooting in the summer and in Atlanta. So this is actually very convenient for Millie. Maybe this was also one of the reasons why she decided to do this project, because Atlanta has already become a second home for her since she is so used to shoot
Stranger Things
there.
