Before going on set she would have worn a hair net filled with microscopic nodules which use static electricity to temporarily 'shrink' the hair. Later, the net is replaced by a realistic looking short hair using computer resolution techniques.
How ridiculous. Didn't you watch the show? 11 had super powers. She could shrink and grow hair with her mind.

I'm sure this is occasionally done for big stars but for an unknown actress in a first season of a TV show, I highly doubt they'd go to the trouble. Why would they bother when there are at least a thousand other little girls, all lined up, dying to play the part who'd have no problem sheering off their hair.

She is really young, and for a big role, of course she would cut her hair off.
I've read more than once that she was reluctant and they showed her film of Charlize Theron from Mad Max, and you have to admit she looked fantastic with short hair.
By the way, Charlize Theron gained a lot of weight and looked horrible when she shot Monster the true story of a female serial killer. She won an Oscar for that.
Many actors have lost or gained a lot of weight for roles, including Robert di Niro, Chrostopher Bales, Adrien Brody for the Pianist and an Oscar. It's part of what you do.
I think it was very convincing that they used Charlize Theron clips as she looked fantastic for that role. They also bandaged up her breasts to conceal her model's body. -

As I recall, Natalie Portmann shaved her head for V for Vendetta. But I strongly believe seeing how great Charlize looked in Fury Road would have been convincing.
The thing is, tho, if this is a long time series, she is going to have to keep her head shaved for a long time.
Unless the makers realize that maybe having a shaved head made some sense in the lab when she was wearing that crazy head gear, but as the plot moves on she could grow her hair in.
I think there is somewhat of a parallel in the character of Brienne in Game of Thrones. I read she was thrilled to get the part, but went home and cried because she realized she would have to cut her hair off.
Long hair is such a central part of female identity, form early childhood on. -

That was supposedly one of the things stopping the last bridget jones installment.
Renee didnt want to gain weight for the role again and she stated as much for years while she was getting somewhat decent roles.
She took a considerable break from acting (6 years) where she underwent some surgery that a lot of people mocked and Im guessing that going back to being bridget was the easiest way to shiw everyone the surgery wasnt that bad and she hasnt changed that much -

She did cut her hair. Here's an article with a video she had taken while having it cut.

What is the big deal? Is it really that hard to believe that she cut her hair for a major part in a series? Have you never seen Alien 3? V for Vendetta? Mad Max: Fury Road?
And it's spelled "role", not "roll". You're not going to eat it with dinner.
Why can't this millennial generation learn how to f @cking spell? -

LMAO about role/roll; that one drives me mad, as well. While we're correcting semantics, Brown only buzzed her hair. Shaved heads are bald and usually completed with razors after clippers. Anything else is just a buzzcut. Brown's buzz wasn't all that drastic. She has a haunting face.
