So a simple elimination game to find who the general consensus on who the all time favourite Bond villian is on this board. I will count the votes(if there is any!) After 24 hours and move on to the next round. I will pick the two to go head to head randomly.
I will give also give my vote in each op, and the reasons why.
Round 1: Gustav Graves vs Dominic Greene
I thought this would be an interesting place to start, as they are the villians of probably the two most maligned films on this board.
I find Graves to actually be a fairly solid character. He is fanatical enough about what he believes in to get the 'gene therapy', has a fairly interesting plan(to unite the two Korea's, albeit und Northern rule), and also offers a fairly decent physical challenge to Bond twice in the space of DAD. Toby Stephen's has a glorious sh*t eating grin, and chews the scenery at every opportunity. He does have some god awful dialogue though, and, god forbid, the Robocop suit of doom.
Dominic Greene is a much more understated villian, and Matheau Almaric does his best with a fairly one note character. Actually has a fairly decent, but brief, tussle with Bond at the climax of the film. His demise, though off screen, is one of the more original ways that a villian has been desposed of in a Bond movie. For my money he doesn't get enough screen time, and comes across as too much of a cog in the machine to be a standout villian.
    My vote: Gustav Graves

Verily I say unto theeGraves is by far the superior villain, Greene comes across as a third rate minor villain whose only chance of being arrested by the US authorities is because he is a dead ringer for Roman Polanski.Uniformed guards working for Dr. No had ten times more charisma than him so kick Greene out now and forget him forever.

To confirm the rules in play.
Does a poster's vehement denunciation of a villain using chronically uninterrupted hatred and vitriol actually paint a picture and build a case that said villain is actually MORE in the public consciousness and further, qualifies as a MORE effective villain by generating such a strong emotional response? Long sentence, I know.
Anyway, Graves was over the top great, but I'll choose Greene as more accessibly slimey plus more suitably and classily disposed of by OO7. He also gets points for having Camille on her back. Colonel Moon/Gustav Graves didn't show those proclivities.

Graves (meaning the character while being portrayed by Toby Stephens) was good, and the fencing scene one of the few highlights (meaning cringe-free, escept for the presence of Madonna) of the movie. It's just that the entire backstory is so outrageously unbelievable and the idea of someone coming out of nowhere and being part of British High Society within 14 months (while sponsoring an Olympic fencing team in the meantime) so ludicrous even if one wanted to subscribe to that Korean-to-English gene exchange nonsense, this ruins the character for me.
I therefore vote for Greene, who is probably one of the creepiest bad guys of the series not although, but exactly because he is so normal, soft-spoken, businesslike. And looks like Polanski, for those who care. Somewhere far down there in the total ranking, but for me, clearly above that Koropean guy.
          Ceterum censeo OCTOPUSSY esse delendam.

Graves is a more amusing villain, if from a worse film.
I don't hate Green, I like QOS and I like the concept of the character, but he's just boring.
              I pick Graves.

Greene wins and is through to the next round. Graves is out.
