Laugh all you want but yes, interior design does play into the storyline. Season 4 ep 10, when Elena and
Caroline are in in the library compelled by Rebekah, Stefan walks in and there is a shot of a book entitled"The Decorating Book""also"The final Days" when Tyler came in, you can keep on laughing but there are other eps., seasons referencences to book and movie titles like, "Call of the Wild" season 1 Damons favorite, season 1 "Wuthering Heights " Stefan lent this to Elena, "Gone With the Wind" season 2, Damons , season 4 "The Winter Palace" , Katherine the Great, and "Mandrake " Ricks kids? also some detective novels, Season 6 "A Dolls House" poster at Whitmore when Lily was there, also "Romeo and Juliet" Damon and Elena,and "Pirates of Penzance", orphans, all relevant to the storyline and characters.
Also, if anyone's interested there are posters in season 4 and 6 in a bar and in Liv's room entitled "Orphan Bodyswap Apocalypse"

I just always imagined that Stefans tendency to collect and display souvenirs was in keeping with his pack rat traits. He does like to hold on to memories hence why he writes so many journals. He lives and dwells on the past very much.
Damon does have his own collection of souvenirs from his past, but he stores them away tidily. I'm sure psychologists could have a field day analysing the bedrooms of both boys and the stark contrast between them.

Yes, Stefan displays these trophys, maybe, so he can feel remorse? If they really are his victims possessions remorse is prob not what he feels when looking at them or sitting in their chairs, sleeping in their beds? If so, that's pretty disturbing also.
Damon does have his own collection of memorabilia also and keeps them tidily packed away as you said. I think the difference is that Damon doesn't need to look at and live with his victims possessions because he acknowledges to himself and everyone else that he is and has been a monster.
Therin lies the eternal difference.

Lol, I don't actually think either of the boys keep 'trophies' in their bedroom. I think Stefan just collects 'things' as in memorabilia from his life and surrounds himself with them. It's important to Stefan and probably makes him feel at home. Now his list of names on a wall is definitely a trophy list.
Damon also keeps things, it's just that he seems to prefer an uncluttered environment so he stores them away in a trunk.Never argue with stupid people,they will drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

Ok, if that's what you think. Stefan used to need to write names on a wall and now surrounds himself with memorabilia, to comfort himself with warm, loving memories.,

Before we say goodbye, there is a souvenir size statue of the Eiffel Tower on a shelf in Stefan's room exactly like the one Enzo gave Bonnie.
Posted this thread awhile ago, I think it's still pertinent to where the story is and has been.
Any thoughts you guys?
