Very interesting. I had never seen this clip.

It's amazing how well that voice suits Goldfinger. I can't imagine Gert's own voice being better, even if his English had been flawless. Just a classic piece of voice casting!

I had originally seen GF dubbed in German, where Fröbe voiced himself. And believe me, I know Fröbe's voice not just from GF. But after buying first a VHS tape of the original English version of GF and the DVD after that, it still took me years to find out that it was not Gert himself who voiced the English part.
I read somewhere that the words "except: CRIME" were indeed spoken by Fröbe, though.

It's fun to watch Fröbe play the heroic good guy, as intrepid Inspector Lohmann in those Doktor Mabuse thrillers from the early 1960s especially in the original German (with English subtitles).
I wish more titles from the Mabuse series were available in good-quality video editions here in the USA Excellent editions of
The 1,000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse
and
The Testament of Dr. Mabuse
(1962 remake) were released here, but the other Mabuse flicks of the '60s have gotten the short end of the stick.
