polling more than 500 filmmakers, stars and influential film fans
and on another page they name the celebrity and their selections.

Weak water.
You can find at least 250 world-class films in even just one year of Hollywood's output from the studio era.
Pick any year in the 1950s, for example.
In terms of quality, any year in the 1950s towers over any ten years βor even any twenty years βin the Lucas/Spielberg/Cameron era.
That NYTimes list is a puddle of mule-piss, in comparison.

Never saw Parasite.
Mulholland Drive deserves that high spot.
NCFOM is good but overrated.
Haven't seen TWBB, but I know the meme.
Interstellar is great. One of the only mainstream somewhat modern films I've connected with.
TDK is good, but I'm also kind of tired of the hype around it.
Mad Max Fury Road is the best Mad Max.
Spirited Away ia a perfect film, and I don't even like anime.. at least not since I was 10.
Eternal Sunshine is a personal favorite.
Never saw the Social Network. I really don't care to.
Inglorious Basterds was overrated, but not bad.
Never heard of In the Mood for Love
Haven't seen EEAAO. Seems kind of pretentious.
Havent seen the LOTR movies. Read the beginning of The Hobbit, but it didn't keep my interest. Hobbit holes do seem cozy though.
Haven't seen Moonlight or Whiplash.
I feel about Arrival the same as I feel about Interstellar.
Get Out was great, but bordering overrated. If not for the originality, I'd say it's overrated.

Schrodinger's Cat walks into a bar, and doesn't.
