Yes I know what you mean. Also I know it sounds corny but I liked that Lily was clearly a vampire, Herman was clearly Frankenstein’s monster, Eddie was a werewolf and Marilyn was a normal human. Equal representation, ya know?

The Addams Family by a country mile.
The Addams Family were genuine nonconformists. Witty, subversive, kinky ("Tish, you spoke French!") and unique.
The Munsters were just workaday normies albeit with abnormal appearances. Take off the monster makeup and they'd be just another dull sitcom family.

You hit the nail on the head. The Addams Family was a genius parody. The characters were well developed. The Munsters was all about the make-up.

I've only seen "The Munsters" and the 3D animation of "The Addams Family." I don't really want to see either again, but it was a thrill.

The Munsters. The other show felt try-too-hard, which is not great for comedy tv.
And as a kid, I just felt that the Munsters were funnier and the characters more likable.
