    Longines Chronoscope (1951)

    Episode dated 2 January 1952 (1952)
Hard to rate. But it was historically interesting so I give it 7.5/10. Half a point was deducted due to poor camera work.
This was a talk show, usually about political matters. It aired from 11:00PM to 11:15PM on CBS. It aired live, and was recorded via the kinescope system. I watched it on the Internet Archive.
It is an otherworldly experience to watch a talk/news show from the early 1950s. It's like "this is meant to be lost, you ain't supposed to see this" yet the episode exists and is detached completely from the modern day. In the episode, they discuss whether the U.S. should allow other countries to export their goods to the U.S.

Neighbours, episode #7350. 8/10, elevated by Madison's arrival (loved the fact that she and Daniel recreated the scene of their parents' first meeting thirty years ago). Would have been higher if not for Xanthe's subplot. I have zero patience for that girl anymore.

        Longines Chronoscope (1951)

        Episode dated 30 July 1951 (1951)
        7/10
Talk show which aired 11:00PM to 11:15PM on CBS.
Interesting interview, but a point deducted due to technical faults, and the placement of the two commercials was poorly done. Later episodes wisely had a short ad at the beginning, and a longer ad after the interview was finished, but this episode has the reverse. This may not sound like much, but the result is ghastly.
(just to explain, this show was recorded as a kinescope. Kinescopes, due to the way they were used, usually include the commercials that aired during the original transmission).

Neighbours, #7352. 10/10, elevated by Daniel and Imogen's wedding and departure, though considering how much it resembled Brad and Beth's in 1993, I'm not sure I should be too optimistic about their future together.

5/10. Historically fascinating.but also extremely annoying. I wanted to punch the interviewers.
Viewed on YouTube, but I don't recommended you check out this episode, unless you really want to be annoyed.

Never knew Vanessa was plagued by some kind of demon. That Séance scene was a show-stopper.

8/10. Second time I've watched this episode this year. I wish I could get some additional episodes. I've seen about a dozen episodes and wish more would become available. This is an excellent music series.

As MC Hammer once said, "Let's all do the bump".
                  Frankie Laine Time (1955)

                  Episode #2.5 (1956)
                  8/10.
This show has everything: the singer popular with the youth (Johnnie Ray), the singer popular with adults (Frankie Laine), the singer who never became popular (Anne Gilbert), the token African-American (pianist Eddie Heywood, who is annoyed by Laine's requests for him to sing), the semi-funny comedian (Gene Baylos), and a dancer (Trini Reyes).
It's a shame music series are pretty much extinct these days. They only seem to produce "talent" shows now. A real music show would be better. One thing I like about "Frankie Laine Time" is that some of the songs are presented as production numbers, with dancers and appropriate sets. Somehow, the 70s shows that did this looked tacky, but the 50s ones look fine. I think some things just work better in black-and-white (I've seen a number of post-1960s series, some relatively recent, which would have benefited from being in black-and-white).
(that said, the episode I viewed did feature a borderline-tacky production number for the song "Blue Hawaii". Plus Frankie Laine was very rude in his begging for Heywood to sing. But I guess few things can be perfect).
EDIT: It seems that the above page misspelled the name of a performer on this show. Gilbert's name was Ann, not Anne. Ugh. Per a few minutes of research, she only did two albums in her career, and died in 2012. I appears none of the credited cast of this episode are still alive (though some of the supporting dancers/singers may be around - who knows?).
I would like to note I was half-asleep when I wrote this. I am just about to go to sleep, just as everyone else in the house begins to wake up.I hope I didn't make any stupid errors in the post.

Solid episode from my favorite new show of the season. I wasn't really expecting it to be good, so was pleasantly surprised. The Friday at nine timeslot isn't really helping it catch on, though. 😞
