I found this poll about the best TV shows of the 80s
    https://netivist.org/debate/knight-rider-vs-a-team-vs-macgyver
and I have to say that my favourite is Mac Gyver. As a kid I was very amazed at how he built things to escape difficult situations.

I was more into sitcoms, but if I have to vote, I will say the A-team. That song, that character, Hannibal And Mr. T of course!!!!

Knight Rider was the only show out of the three I had actually watched when I was younger.
Nice 2 laugh, but don't be the joke.

I was a teen during the '80s and my preference was the A-Team.
To rank them in my viewing habit:

            1. A-Team
            2. Knight Rider
            3. MacGyver

It has to be MacGyver - the over all sophistication,
from the first episode on writing, etc. While the other two
were already in full swing production; had a fan following,
MacGyver had to be something different.
There were explosions, but gunfire was less, and
                      from smaller hand guns.
We watched the occasion episode of A-Team, and it was like
having oily fingers after eating chicken wings, etc.
Knight Rider - some what better than A-Team.
They all had their similarities - someone in trouble.
A-Team - someone in trouble, then call A-Team,
last 10 mins. of each episode it was explosions, gunfire
                      from large machine guns, etc.
But I could be wrong on 'every' episode ending the same.
Knight Rider - watched almost every episode.
Someone in trouble, bring in KITT, a search engine in a form
of a tank that can jump over 100 foot gaps in the dirt road.
                      However, less oily fingers feeling.
Also it might have something to do with the
networks, NBC was more action oriented, where as
ABC was more easy going, but I could be wrong.

"The A-Team" and "Knight Rider" were the only two of those three that I watched every week. I watched "MacGyver" every once in awhile. It was a good show but for some reason,I could never get totally get hooked enough to want to watch it consistently. I'm thinking of buying the dvd sets to give it another try.

Unless I'm held at gunpoint and forced to rank, I have to say all 3. Both were equally good in their individual niches.
I have fond memories and rather not choose. I'd also put The Fall Guy, Airwolf and The Greatest American Hero on top of those 3 shows mentioned.

Your link doesn't seem to work but, I watch Knight Rider. Michael is a relate-able, cool, fun character with an interesting back-story for how he gets involved with solving crimes. The rest of the cast is full of nice supporting characters as well, but we only get to see KITT for the most part. I like that because he isn't a normal TV character, he's a car. You don't want him to be the main character, though, since that would take a lot of the humanity out of the show, but you don't want him to be such a minor character as the others where we don't see him for the majority of the show because he's a talking computer car. There are a lot of funny moments in each episode too, and that's very important. You can't have a show like this be too serious all of the time. Plus, I watch comedy shows for the most part, so I tend to look for shows with more comedy, I guess. Overall, it's a great show, and my favorite of the three.

I agree MacGyver making a bomb out of a stick of chewing gum and all that was really cool, but my favorite was always The A-Team. I found it the most "fun" to watch rather than the "coolest" thing to watch. I had a great time with those characters, especially Face-Man and Murdock.

A-Team. I grew up on a farm, and their unscientific bodging echoed a lot closer to home than Knight Rider's advanced tech, or Macgyver's exacting science. I enjoyed all three shows, though.

Embarrassed to say that i was unaware of Mac Gyver until the show was referenced/parodied(?) in The Simpsons ! So i can't comment on that, having never seen it!
                                      Hmmm
                                      A-Team or Knight Ridertough one
I'll go for A-Team 1st, because i found Knight Rider could be quite a bit more "talky" and less "explodey"
I was a big fan of The Fall Guy, Chips and The Dukes of Hazzard also at the time.
