The Closer was one of the best shows on TV. Has the crime drama theme but a lot of banter between the characters. Lt. Louie Provenza, played by G. W. Bailey has me laughin all the time. I'm now watching re runs to catch what I might have missed the first time around.
The show was so good, as a matter of fact, they decided not to cancel it but to let it continue to run when Star, Kyra Sedgwick decided she needed a rest from it.
It ran from 2005 to 2012.
The new show is called Major Crimes. I've never seen this done on TV before. Perhaps they have but I missed it if they did.
The new show has all the same characters and the same story line. Just now, without Kyra Sedgwick.
I love the cast /characters on this show. I been watchin them for so long they feel like family (except for I like spendin time with them!)

White Collar on USA. Season 5 starts October 17th. It's a great, fairly light-hearted show with great characters.

I'd like to add another one I ran across more recently [by the bye, I've started watching
          New Tricks
          , and I really enjoy it!]. It's
          Death in Paradise
. A London cop who is disliked by his colleagues is sent to a Caribbean island to "temporarily" take charge after the death of the previous inspector. Sounds greatbut he hates sun, sand, sea and skynot to mention French, which is the background of many of the island's inhabitantsand just wants to go back to London. Funny, good cast, interesting mysteries.

I think Copper was a great watch, shame it was cancelled. I have started looking thru UK tv alot of late and have watched some topnotch shows.
              COPPER
              PEAKY BLINDERS
              BORGIA [ not"The Borgias"]
              THE TUDORS
I love watching stuff from the 80s, I was in the UK in 85 when I was 16 and my dads cousin put on the Blackadder one night. In Canada we did get some british stuff, mostly the latenite comedy. Benny hill was must watch at 11 oclock on weekends.
I started watching Blackadder from ep1,I had just watched the Tudors, seemed like a good choice to follow up with.

Burn Notice. About a spy out in the cold. Not Brit, but the lead actress is a Brit. Gabrielle Anwar (using an American accent for 110 out of the 111 episodes i.e. 7 seasons).
If you like humor, action, good writing, great acting (by Jeffrey Donovan), and lots of real things being blown up (by Gabrielle's character), you will LOVE Burn Notice. I've found all the episodes on the Watch Series website. Or you can see some episodes on USA network's website. But I recommend starting with the pilot. Very entertaining seriesmost popular on cable t.v. for several years running. With good reason.

Weird. Request recommendations and then not bother to come back to the boards. Ever.
