The 80s and 90s were definitely better.

I agree that the old One Life to Live was so much better.
I think the show was at its best between 1986-1991. It was so good back then.
      My favorite couples were:
      Tina and Cord
      Max and Gabrielle
      Carla and Ed
      Bo and Delila
      Bo and Didi
      Vicki and Clint
      Asa and Renee
Other characters I liked and miss:
      Asa
      Cassie (the original)
      Rafe
      Larry
      Mary Ann
      Steve

Of the current soaps, OLTL is IMHO the best. This year I have enjoyed the serial killer storyline, enjoying seeing the return of Todd's fraternity pals. (Just wish the original Todd hadn't left, he's great on ATWT, but the current Todd is OK.) Who's stalking Jessie? My guess would be Tina's ex-boyfriend Mitch and I'd Peg him for Rex's Dad. Why? Because he was evil and real looney tunes. I do regret the OLTL bosses didn't keep Tina who really made the show great in the '80's, but it was good to see her freed from Passions last year. So who's the stalker? It's supposed to be revealed in a few weeks. In the meantime I'm enjoying the mystery surrounding Tea's missing years. OLTL has had ups and downs, but remains entertaining.

And who remembers the fabulous Judith Light as the ever-tortured Karen Wolek?

Judith Light was great. Karen and Marco Dane certainly caught my attention! And what about Pat the reporter?Hard to believe I've been watching that show off and on for 30 years! Erika Slezak has deserved all her Emmy wins. Wish Max Holden would come back to Llanview. Am curious to see the "new" actor playing Tea's island companion. OLTL has had its ups and downs, I even stopped watching for a while during some of the really stupid storylines but the program is fun to watch and, this year, has caught my interest with the diverse stories. Hope Vickie kicks Dorian's butt again! I still think Mitch must have been Roxie's lover and Rex's dad 'cause he's the only former regular villainous character who'd be old enough to have pleasured the slut. (That was a joke, I fell for the actress on Ryan's Hope and was happy to see her return to TV as opportunistic Roxie.)

I used to love the Viki/Dorian fuedit's right up there with Kristle and Alexis and Jill and Katherine. Slezak and Strasser work brilliantly together and their scenes together were always appointment television. I loved Illene Kristen as Delia on RYAN'S HOPE, but felt all the characters she played after that were just pale imitations of Delia.

Loved both those couples, esp. Tina and Cord! I also loved Cord/Max strong friendship, one of the best male friendships ever portrayed in the soaps and Tina/Gabrielle were one of the best scheming vamp duos ever!

But that was a rip off of the 1979 Jennie/Katrina baby switch which became a major storyline a couple of years later. When Judith Light was on the show it really rocked, she initiated so many storylines!

They should re-run OLTL episodes starting from the late 70's, any cable channel should do it. That would be so great.

One Life To Live was so good in the 80s and early 90s. It went downhill when they broke up Vicki and Clint.
