Idk man. Anime is so goofy. I used to watch it, as a kid… I liked
Ninja Scroll (skimpy action scenes but I saw this in 6th grade so may have forgotten)
Dragon ball Z (awesome and horrible show)
Gundam and it’s myriad spin-offs
Kenshin
Berserk (great show)
I can’t remember if there were any others. If there were, they must have sucked. And even these are only good for teenage boys to watch.
Yes, the stories may be complex and adult themed. Especially Berserk and some of the Gundam series + to a lesser extent, period pieces like Kenshin. But anime depicts effeminate men with Googly eyes, weird proportions, and often with cringey dialogue. All the anime women sound like they’re being murdered in sex scenes. It’s ****ing bizarre.
Berserk is ****ing dark. I haven’t seen all of it or it’s various incarnations and never will. But if I ever watch anime again, and I won’t, it’d be this.
Ultimately, I can respect the genre but the artistic medium it employs simply doesn’t work for me these days.

Well… NGE… for now. In a few years, I think I'll be changing my vote to Chainsaw Man when the remainder of the manga is adapted. So far, it's been absolutely top. Another one that'll probably be up there if they properly adapt everything would be Jujustu Kaisen. The manga slaps and the first 24 episodes (plus the movie) were excellent.
Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the honored one.
