Two dancers at an elite ballet academy in Paris compete for a contract to join the highly coveted Opéra national de Paris; adapted from the novel "Bright Burning Stars."
It reminds me of the very short aspiration I had to become a black prima ballerina. I was 13. Way too old to begin training. However, I studied the dance as much as I could.
So, this show is closer to being true about the ballet world and their dancers than movies like Black Swan.
It's tough. Competitive. Your ballet master or ballet mistress was not always kind critics of your dancing when you're not executing the choreography correctly.
In the beginning, Jacqueline scolds the dancer's mistake, 'glissant', not tramp like a horse.
That is the epitome of articulation. Do you agree?
