Russell Crowe’s performance had a **** ton of soul and charm put into it behind that plate armor, and he was badass as a gladiator carrying a sword.
It still saddens me that he died in the end due to Commodus weakening him to get an underhanded advantage, pre-battle.
This is one of my all-time favorite action movies.
