Ooh… Amazing movie. It's no Cannibal Ferox, but what is? Thoughts on Roth's work in general? I liked Cabin Fever and the first Hostel. Knock Knock was terrible, but also had a ton of eye candy so I'll give it a pass
Wasn't interested in the Death Wish remake or the Jack Black thing. And haven't seen Thanksgiving yet.

mixed feelings tbh. yes Green Inferno is great and i enjoyed Cabin Fever, but i'm not a fan of anything else he's made that i've seen, horror or non-horror.
i'm actually watching Aftershock as we speak, which he was producing and starring in lmao it's so ****ing bad
from the popular horror directors working today, he may even be my least fav. Wan, West, Flanagan et al are all leagues above him imho

And (controversial take), Rob Zombie. He's a good director. It's his screenwriting abilities that are usually not up to par.

Definitely not these days, no. But his Halloween movies were definitely wide releases around the time Roth was making Hostel and such.

Also - probably from his role in Inglourious Basterds - I always associate Roth with the whole Tarantino/Rodriguez world. Which reminded me that From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty and Planet Terror exists, and all three are super effective horror movies, even if Planet Terror is more campy fun than scary.

Lol nah, you're fine. I was way into them when I was younger because their movies weren't like anything else that was even relatively mainstream in the U.S. back then. I'd read or watch any interview I could find with them and wrote down any movies they mentioned as influences. And once I actually got to see the movies they were talking about, I discovered that most of them were better. But I still think they're a good gateway drug into better stuff. Kinda like Green Day lol
