By the time the box set came out I already had the first three. The story behind the prequels is quite funny, they didn’t like the first one so had another go with Renny Harlin directing and that bombed so they reluctantly put out Paul Schrader’s film with hardly any support and that bombed.
Exorcist 3 went back to what I think was the best thing about the first film. I always preferred the quite, creepy bits without the flying vomit and spinning heads. I also highly recommend the book (Legion) which had a strong emotional impact on me at the time. -

WTF were they smoking when they made this pos? And what were Burton and Jones thinking when they signed on for this turd? Did they bother to read the script?
PS A dismal 3.8 on IMDb, and from the looks of it, that was extremely generous.
