Yeah, it was a great idea for a movie. Initially, I saw Point of No Return first. I didn't discover la femme Nikita, until I was at a video store. The cover looked intriguing. Once I started watching the film, I figured out that Point of No Return was adapted from it.
Both movies have their strengths and weaknesses. I won't compare all the scenes for both movies.
The two I shared from YT is a good example. The American version is a slightly different interpretation of the original la femme Nikita. It was over the top, but done in more realistic and elaborate way. Bridget moves and reacts like a trained female assassin forced into doing a job she didn't want to do. And then the second half of the scene, she's still in character as she is placed in a life or death situation.
The French version, Anne Parillud (same actress starring in Innocent Blood), acting isn't as convincing. She goes into helpless mode too easily and plays the victim. Technically, her character was sort of coerced into becoming an assasin the first place. She's a victim of a secret government experiment. I understand that. However, it had already been established that the character was a tough girl in her prior life. She stabs a police officer in the hand with a pencil during the interrogation scene. Therefore, it seemed out of character when I watch her breakdown in fear during the kitchen fight scene. She was a trained assasin not using her wits at all. She chose flight, whereas in the American version, the character chooses to fight her way out.
Clearly the American film had a larger budget to work with.
Shame about Anne Parillaud's career in American cinema. I like her acting and she's pretty.
Did you get a chance to watch any of the la femme Nikita tv series? I watched a few episodes from season one but stopped because I dropped my cable subscription.

I only managed to watch a couple of the TV series, because real life interrupted.

Did you notice the similarities in the kitchen gunfight of la femme Nikita and Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol 1 origin story of O Ren?

Saw this one in the theater. Very enjoyable horror comedy.

One of my favorite vampire movies, and it has a lot to do with the great acting of Anthony LaPaglia. He made the whole damn thing believable!

Yes! He was wonderful. I really enjoyed this movie so much. Especially the line she says in the movie of "I think I'll have Italian" (in the movie SHE says it, but the narrator discloses it here).
                          The chemistry was terrific.

Cool! Will get on that soon.
Typically, older vampire films can be a bit cheesy because of the cinematography, makeups, CGI, time and place setting, etc, but that won't stop me from seeing any. Is Innocent Blood a horror/comedy film?
I thought the best vampire films are Bram Stoker's Dracula and Interview with the Vampire. They're tied in my opinions. The Lost Boys was pretty good and entertaining, but not really my favorite.

It has a comedy side, to be sure. I think some of it is unintentional or a bit tongue in cheek. So yeah, I'd say horror/comedy. A little bit of everything.
                                  It's a very fun movie!
