Watching this now and the sequel later. Starts out with a creepy clown, what could be more appropriate for Halloween 2016? I think the clown got his own spinoff movie too, anyone see it?

Below average, and as with all anthology horror movies it's uneven and inconsistent. Some segments are ok, the wrap arounds with the VHS tape and the clown are decent enough, but some of the shorts in the middle are awful, particularly the alien one. I saw it last year, and don't remember all the details, but I wasn't impressed. The sequel has essentially nothing to do with this one other than it having the same device to present the shorts. It's also bad. Certainly worse than the first.
I haven't seen the spinoff, it seems that nobody really has and there's almost no information on its page, but I did think the clown piece was the best part of All Hallow's Eve, so maybe it would work. -

I enjoyed Tales of Halloween a bit more. It's also a bit uneven, but there are a lot more short films involved so there's a greater variety. And the production values are generally better, so that's sort of a plus, at least for some of them.

I thought Terrifier was a brilliant short then it got used again in this anthology now i find out its getting a feature length version as well, the director is kinda milking it.
The 9th Circle was already released as a short as well. -

I liked it. The interlinking of the clown in the segments and the wraparound, with the final segment and final wraparound piece made for a real sense of dread that I just don't get that often. The individual segments were all good with the aliuen one being the weakest of the three. I do understand that the segments were pre-existing and then had reshoots and the wraparound to link them, but that's no bother. Aside from the alien segment it had this living nightmare quality where the victims couldn't escape the situations they were in, and I think that is usually the most effective horror.
