Really a joy to read, awesome review Tromafreak! Couldn't have said it better myself!
Even though I have only become a fan over the summer I'm glad HGL was still around for a bit when I have discovered and watched all of his horror movies. While I'm not a fan of gory horror in particular, HGL's movies have something for me that grip me. While a strong story and/or characters used to be something to keep me interested, it's exactly that simple approach of HGL that works for me. In slasher all that build-up and characters I don't care for makes me doze of and have become uninterested until it gets going. HGL is often right into the story and the action, no beating around the bush, I love it! And that often combined with a light humorous tone but never going over the top or going into full splatter mode like Evil Dead or Braindead.
Enough for me to declare him my favorite horror director and I am grateful that he actually wanted to share his experiences with his fans by means of audio commentaries and docus.
I don't know if you are planning to see the Blood Feast remake which has come out this year. Not that I expect it to be great but Herschell also has a role in it. That alone makes me curious enough. -

I'll definitely be checking out the remake. Looks like it'll be taking a darker, less schlocky approach, which is cool, since we already have Blood Feast 2. A different take might work
You might find this interesting (or just really, really sad), but about a decade ago, Herschell was very close to making a movie called Back In Blood: Return Of The Gore-Crazed Maniacs, which would star Mrs. Pringle and her son from he Gruesome Twosome, Fuad Ramses, and Montag. Something about them taking over the world. I forgot the details, but all the original actors would have been in it. This is one of the many B-movie sequels from the 2000's that never happened.

Yeah I have seen a few pictures of the remake and it does indeed look a lot darker. It is not going to be like Lewis versions but still I would love to see.
I have listened to The Gruesome Twosome audio commentary and there it was said Herschell met the lady playing Mrs Pringle many years later asking if there was going to be a Gruesome Twosome 2. She is definitely one of my favorite chracters from his movies together with Fuad Ramses III. I think she also was one of the most professional actresses despite her being in so few movies. I'm pretty sure she must have been in many plays.
While the idea of these HGL villains teaming up surely sounds exciting it will need a little of the necromancy skills of Montag as Fuad Ramses died and since he was crushed to death that wouldn't be a pretty sight either. And we are not sure if Montag actually survived or not. And Rodney was in pretty bad shape too losing an eye.
I think a nicer idea would be having some kind of carnival/fancy fair that appears out of nowhere like in Two Thousand Maniacs. The attractions are of course exploited by all the villains we have seen in HGL movies. Montag with his magic show, Fuad Ramses I and III providing snacks, Ms Pringle and her son offer some 'souvenirs', strip-tease bar ran by the killer from The Gore Gore Girls, the guy from Color me Blood Red painting your portrait. and there is plenty of other 'deadly' attractions run by the 2000 maniacs. Visitors can be all the survivors from the villains. I surely would love to see Tiffani Lampley visiting the place with detective Loomis and his secretary. -

3/10 Blood Feast 2: All You Can Eat (2002)
ha nice they admit straight away that his 60/70s films were TOTAL beep best to play it cool by pretending its what I meant originally but in fact the truth is not so. So turned down though its like the 1963 film turned to PG today
2/10
Blood Feast (1963)
its pitch black crickets chirping (on a beach but anyways) and the guy saiz we'll go when it gets dark. Theres blue sky + the suns shining and theyre talking about it being a plesant night. Typical acting for a Herschell Gordon Lewis film, i.e. woeful
