7/10
Not bad, i just watched it and there is nothing special in it, good torture scenes and it's entertaining, but failed to disturb me and this is coming from someone that was disturbed with Aja's Hills Have Eyes, i just fail to see what's so disturbing about Martyrs, the acting was good, but the movie just lacks something, the ending was not the best and actually it's a bit confusing.

There is definitely something very special in it. I don't shock easily (at all), but every time I watch it it leaves me in a state of shock. No other movie has ever made me feel the way I feel when Martyrs ends. 10/10
CG gore is the worst thing that has ever happened to the horror genre. -

I didn't buy into it either. I understand that it's incredibly effective for some people but my girlfriend and I thought it was nothing special. I think I gave it 6/10.
everyone deserves one good scare.

I was definitely disturbed and depressed on my initial viewing, but a couple years later I rented it again, and it didn't have the same effect. That's just due to me knowing what would happen, not a knock on it. I think it's an extremely well crafted movie on all levels. It's surprising because Laugier's movie before it, "House of Voices", is derivative, boring garbage (I haven't rented "The Tall Man").
What about the ending was confusing? -

It's been years since I've seen it, but I rated it 5/5 and I remember rating it this highly for two reasons:
- I had no idea what was going on in the first portion of the film, and they reveal it very slowly
- The violence was downright brutal. Unlike anything I'd seen before, and perhaps since. At least in the beginning of the film, I was saying to myself, "If this was happening in real life and the people had these same motivations, this is exactly what I'd expect it to look like. Brutal, no mercy, violent, etc."
I need to see this one again. After seeing it once, I was fairly disturbed and decided I didn't need to see it again for a long time. Kind of like Frontieres and Calvaire
Holland doesn't like Piggy Lookadoo.

8/10 the movie is very graphic, the gore effects are impressive and well placed. There is an interesting storyline and the enough back story for the viewer to connect with the main carachters. The acting is flawless so natural that you find yourself on the edge half covering your eyes. The director manage to tell the story in a crude and shocking manner leaving the audience wondering and making their own conclusion. Yet is a movie you can only manage to stomach once.

I'm just wondering how you can be disturbed by The Hills have Eyes remake.

That trailer attack scene was really brutal, killing the beard, the rape scene was incredibly well filmed, not exploitative like on Spit On Your Grave and it seemed real.
