    I didn't like Wallflower personally.
If I were you I would watch
    But I'm A Cheerleader
yourself, and see what you think. The R-rating wasn't very fair in my opinion, and frankly I think they gave it that for no other reason than it dealt with homosexuality. And it was pretty much standard practice to always give an R-rating to such movies in those days. Like I said in my other post, it doesn't have any nudity, violence, or foul language. It just has sexual innuendo and same-sex kissing. Personally I think it's perfect for teens.
    Geography Club
is also a great choice though.

Yeah, I have to agree that the R rating wasn't really necessary. I think there may be some language, that's about it.
When I was in high school, I was shown quite a few 18+ films in both English and History class. Our parents had to sign consent forms in order for us to be allowed to view it without incident.
Why don't you take a pill, bake a cake, go read the encyclopaedia.

Thanks. You're right about the language. I had forgotten about it though because of how mild it was. But there are definitely a few f-bombs in there. Not many though. Again there was no nudity, no violence. Just a lot of homoerotic innuendo and same sex kissing. I think it could have been safely rated PG-13.
The truth is this movie is pretty mild compared to other things kids are exposed to. And it's really well done. And it has a stellar cast. It's guaranteed to be a hit.

I'll have to check it out. It depends on how suggestive it is. Same sex kissing should be ok, but the scene I read about where the characters are masturbating might be an issue - I don't know. We have to be hyper sensitive to what parents might object to.

I definitely recommend you check this movie out, even if just for yourself. It's just such a good movie.

Plenty of good LGBTQ films that are not in English, Soundless Wind Chime is a great example.

That's a nice trailer and the music is beautiful. I'll see if I can find this and if it works for our group. Thanks.

                    Well, this is hard.
Can anyone recommend an LGBTQ film that would be appropriate for a high school GSA?
For the eleventh and twelfth grades:
                    Patrik 1,5 (2008)
                    Get Your Stuff (2000)
Mind you, a lot of age-appropriate short movies can be found on YouTube.

Thank you, that's helpful. I hadn't thought of short movies. Considering how short our meeting times are, maybe that's a good choice. The ideal would be something that is not only age appropriate, but also something that doesn't focus on negative aspects, such as a story all about someone getting AIDS.

Any luck with the Hong Kong film I suggested. I can also suggest some Korean short films, one of which has no talking, called Boy Meets Boy. Its a well made short film featuring a well know Korean actor
The other one is Suddenly, Last Summer

Honestly, I let it slide. The kids have some ideas, too, but we haven't come back to it. I'm thinking the youtube thing would work for a meeting when they want it and we can all look into movies for if they want to host a "movie night" to do something more social, maybe raise a little money. Thanks so much for your suggestions! I am keeping a file open.

Choices already offered are good. I'll second
                                Geography Club
                                and add
                                Breakfast with Scot
                                .
