Will there ever be another critically acclaimed LGBT show?

Honestly I'd really like ABC Family to do something, I think they could do it right up my alley. I really liked South of Nowhere on Teen Nick, it had the right sentimentality to it, but it was bogged down by a ensemble cast (most of which was not gay) with various uninteresting storylines.

I thought Logo was moving away from gay material? Always wanted them to do more original shows.
I really want Showtime or Netflix or somebody to do a series based on The Miseducation of Cameron Post. Such a beep intelligent book it just screams out to be adapted.

Apparently HBO has ordered up 8 episodes for a new gay themed dramedy called "Looking" that will air next year. Each episode will be 30 min long and feature the lives of 3 gay friends in San Francisco, as well as various aspects of gay life.

Check out Vicious with Ian McKellan and Derek Jacobi! It's of course completely different to queer as folk, you won't get to see any sex and it's not everyones sense of humour but I love it! It's really funny and the characters are adorable!

I've seen only three episodes so far but HBO's Looking ahem looks like it will be a critically acclaimed series going by some early buzz I read.
One thing I note is that the Looking board seems to be filled with a lot of people who hate it for stereotypes and non-perfect characters who aren't role models. I wonder how many of those same people loved Queer as Folk?! -

I like both LOOKING on HBO and DTLA on Logo. The latter is on hiatus, but you can watch the first season on Netflix. Although it stars Daryll Stephens, I like him much better in it than in the egregious Noah's Arc, and it's a far better show. I just watched the fifth episode of LOOKING.
Thrown away. -

To this day I still don't understand why Showtime chose to replace the highly successful Queer As Folk with.nothing. That show ran its course, sure, but there was and still is a demand for a well produced show in the exact same mold as Queer As Folk with urban hot guys who party a lot and are very sexual but who may get into relationships as well. They should have picked up the ball again with a similar concept long ago. The stuff Logo or Here have done have not compared. Stupid business decision on the part of Showtime.

ABC's American Crime S2 dealt with coming of age and sexuality in high school, along with other heavy topics. The main character was gay. Writing, acting and directing were all top notch and there were a few Emmy nominations. Unfortunately the LGBT media totally whiffed on this great and important show. Almost none of the gay entertainment Web sites touched it. Makes me question what is their agenda when they let this slip by them.
As far as Looking goes, was another good drama, but apparently too subtle for most people. They're too busy feasting on the Walking Dead kind of content. Will miss that show a lot. -

not critically acclaimed? If it wasn't, it certainly should have been.
Faking It
aired 3 seasons from April 2014 to May 2016 before being canceled by MTV. It's about a girl who's in love with her straight best friend, and the popular gay boy who outed them as a lesbian couple to the whole school. It also features intersex, bisexual, and transgender characters.
All together there are 38 half-hour episodes.
