sometimes I forget that this was a made for tv movie great film, great soundtrack.. it did win an Emmy or twobut, just had the movie feal too it.. I keep hearing about them remaking this as a Major Motion Film not sure if its true.. but would be amazing if they did.

All this time and nobody said "Brian's Song" the original, not the remake.

        The 1970's was without a doubt THE decade for made-for t.v. movies. The ABC T.V. Movie of the Week was the pioneer of this format, the brainstorm of Aaro Spelling Productions. A majority of the films had a supernatural tone to them. My favorites are as follows;

        1. " The Night Stalker " (1971)
        2. " The House That Would Not Die " (1970)
        3. " The Norliss Tapes " ( 1973)
        4. " Crowhaven Farm " (1970)
        5. " Gargoyles " (1972)

Christ, exhaustive list! I've seen maybe a quarter of those listed.
I've been told Bad Ronald is essential viewing and I still need to see Dark Night of the Scarecrow. I'm pretty sure Let's Scare Jessica to Death was a theatrical release (and it's a great film at that).

I went through the IMDB lists for MTV movies for the 70s, 80 and 90s, so you are right, it is pretty exhaustive. It's not really a genre per se, but these movies are insanely fun. The only MTV movie that I didn't really go for was the popular, "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark", with Kim Darby.
"Let's Scare Jessica to Death" is a very good movie. I didn't think it was a MTV movie, but that's what IMDB has it listed as. So I went and checked on some other sources and it sounds like IMDB has it wrong.
"Bad Ronald" and "Dark Night of the Scarecrow" are both worth finding.

Did you list the one with Valerie Harper being terrorized while alone on a road trip? I cannot recall the title.

That's funny you mentioned that movie because I saw it for the first time about three weeks ago. Richard Romanus was creepy.

I did start to watch it, but then I got distracted. I do need to go back and watch the whole thing because it looked like some I would enjoy.
Robert Reed was in it, if I recall.

That isn't to say it isn't a good one. Consider it added to that list.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

This remains the most watched TV Movie in U.S. history. An estimated 100 million Americans watched, and it had a Nielson Share of 62. It was a truly unnerving experience.
If you're interested, here is the attack segment. It makes extensive of stock footage, but is nevertheless very effective and very chilling.
