From Drew Goddard. He mostly writes but directed The Cabin in the Woods and Bad Times at the El Royale.

When did he come to Warner Bros.? Before or after The Matrix Resurrections?
I guess Warner Bros. wasn't happy with how that one turned out so they're going with plan b. It was so bad they give it away for free.
