In 1974 i saw a short film prior to a screening of The Marx Brothers' Animal Crackers. The film was about a fisherman on a beach, continually eating while fishing. He eventually runs out of food but is still hungry. He looks up an down the beach for food - and spots a lunch bag - he picks up the lunch bag and finds a sandwich. The film ends when he eats the sandwich and is hooked to a line that drags him into the sea.
Does anyone know the title or director of this film. I know i didn't dream it!

Interestingly, I recently saw a recent short film on the same topic. The man on the beach was not even fishing, and he was neither hungry (for what we could see). But he find food on a paper plate, perhaps a hot dog with potato paste. He is careful. First taking it up and investigating it. Then taking a little potatoe paste on his finger and tasting it. And then he starts to eat - and immediately have the hook it his mouth and it drawing down in the water, obviously by a fishing fish.
There is some chance that I could identify the short film I saw. But it could hardly be more than five years old. -

I remember one with an apple a fish used to catch a human, from the 1980's. I just posted a "what is this" 7/12/07. I think it was an HBO short film. I know I had it on vhs recorded, but my wife tossed it and all other out!

You aren't from Cleveland, Ohio, by any chance are you? There was a skit on the Big Chuck and Lil' John Show about an old man who finds a sandwich on the beach. He takes a bite and gets pulled into the water on a rope. A fish is getting its revenge. The skit used to air every once in a while in the 1980s and 1990s.

No - I am from Philly - what i am looking for is definitely a short film - i saw it at LaSalle College on or about 1973-1974 during a screening of Animal Crackers on the campus. If i remember correctly, it was the first screening of Animal Crackers in the Philly area in a number of years.
